Method And Apparatus For Interleaving For Information Transmission Or Storage Applications

View page
US Patent:
6687870, Feb 3, 2004
Filed:
Sep 23, 1999
Appl. No.:
09/406173
Inventors:
Jafar Mohseni - San Diego CA
Brian Butler - La Jolla CA
Deepu John - San Diego CA
Haitao Zhang - San Diego CA
Assignee:
Qualcomm, Incorporated - San Deigo CA
International Classification:
H03M 1300
US Classification:
714762, 711217
Abstract:
Interleavers are used in data transmission and storage applications to introduce diversity into a data stream, thereby making adjacent symbols more independent with respect to a transfer environment of variable quality. Conventional interleavers require storage in whole units of data blocks. This storage requirement complicates implementations for applications where available circuit area is limited and data rates and block sizes are large. A novel interleaver produces an interleaved data block using storage space that is only a fraction of the size of the input data block.

Abstract:
The described aspects include a user equipment (UE) apparatus and corresponding method of communicating with multiple networks using multiple subscriptions. The UE can establish a call in a first network related to a first subscription over a transceiver. During the call, the UE autonomously tunes the transceiver to a frequency of a second network related to a second subscription within a defined gap during the call. The UE can monitor one or more channels in the second network during the defined gap for one or more idle-mode signals.

Methods And Devices For Optimizing Cell Re Acquisitions

View page
US Patent:
20130322328, Dec 5, 2013
Filed:
Oct 19, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/656489
Inventors:
Farrukh Rashid - Farnborough, GB
Jafar Mohseni - San Diego CA, US
Zhong Fan - Farnborough, GB
Assignee:
Qualcomm Incorporated - San Diego CA
International Classification:
H04W 56/00
US Classification:
370328
Abstract:
Access terminals are adapted to employ timing information for a Synchronization Channel (SCH) associated with a neighboring base station during a re-acquisition procedure after such timing information has been determined to be inaccurate, or potentially inaccurate. For instance, an access terminal can obtain timing information for a Synchronization Channel (SCH) associated with a neighboring base station, such as by means of a combined acquisition procedure. The access terminal may subsequently determine that the obtained timing information is, or appears to be, no longer synchronized with the base station. In response to such a determination, the access terminal can employ the obtained timing information to time the opening of a receive window for re-acquiring the base station. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.
