US Patent:
7365503, Apr 29, 2008
Filed:
Jun 9, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/148648
Inventors:
David J. Rutkowski - Grosse Isle MI, US
John H. Floros - Novi MI, US
Imad Sharaa - Farmington MI, US
Assignee:
Ford Motor Company - Dearborn MI
International Classification:
H02P 1/00
US Classification:
318138, 318439, 318254, 318700
Abstract:
A system and method for compensating the output of an uncompensated Hall Effect sensor used to monitor an output shaft of an actuator. The actuator includes an output shaft, a magnet coupled to the output shaft, a motor for rotating the output shaft between a first position and a second position and an electronic control module having a controller, a diode and an uncompensated Hall Effect sensor.

Low Side Driver With Short To Battery Protection

US Patent:
7978453, Jul 12, 2011
Filed:
Jan 11, 2008
Appl. No.:
11/972974
Inventors:
Imad Sharaa - Farmington MI, US
Assignee:
Visteon Global Technologies, Inc. - Van Buren Township MI
International Classification:
H02H 3/08
H02H 9/02
H02H 3/20
H02H 9/04
H02H 9/08
US Classification:
361 931, 361 911, 361 915, 361 939
Abstract:
A driver circuit includes a driver module having a first transistor for receiving a driver voltage signal. In response to the driver voltage signal, the first transistor conducts current through an electronic device. A protection module includes a second transistor in electrical communication with the first transistor for receiving a logic voltage signal and for inhibiting current flow through the first transistor in response to receiving the logic voltage signal. The protection module further includes a digital logic gate having at least one input in electrical communication with the first transistor for detecting a short-circuit voltage signal. At least one output of the digital logic gate is in electrical communication with the second transistor for outputting the logic voltage signal in response to receiving the short-circuit voltage signal.

Initiating Calibration Mode Of Electronic Control Module

US Patent:
20060271321, Nov 30, 2006
Filed:
May 24, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/135773
Inventors:
David Rutkowski - Grosse Isle MI, US
John Floros - Novi MI, US
Imad Sharaa - Farmington MI, US
International Classification:
G06F 19/00
US Classification:
702105000
Abstract:
Disclosed is an actuator having an electronic control module having a port and a controller in communication with the port, as well as software for instructing the controller to detect a calibration signal from the port and transmit an acknowledgment signal to the port. The actuator is placed in a calibration mode by monitoring the port be monitored for the calibration signal. Once it has been determined that the port has received the calibration signal, the actuator will be placed in the calibration mode and an acknowledgment signal will be transmitted to the port.

US Patent:
20060279276, Dec 14, 2006
Filed:
Jun 9, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/148647
Inventors:
David Rutkowski - Grosse Isle MI, US
John Floros - Novi MI, US
Imad Sharaa - Farmington MI, US
International Classification:
G01B 7/14
US Classification:
324207200
Abstract:
An actuator having an output shaft, a motor for rotating the output shaft between a first position and a second position, and an electronic control module having a controller and a sensor. The sensor is configured to output a signal to the controller indicative of the position of the output shaft, and the controller is configured to determine whether the output shaft is in the first position or the second position.

High Side Driver With Short To Ground Protection

US Patent:
20100097116, Apr 22, 2010
Filed:
Oct 20, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/254165
Inventors:
Imad Sharaa - Farmington MI, US
International Classification:
H03K 3/01
US Classification:
327333
Abstract:
A protection circuit for a high side driver includes an exclusive-OR gate adapted to receive a first input and a second input, analyze each of the inputs and transmit an output in response to the analysis of the inputs, wherein the first input represents an electric power output of the high side driver and the second input represents a control signal for operating the high side driver, and a switching device adapted to control an electrical output of the high side driver in response to the output of the exclusive-OR gate.
