Vehicle Driveline Component Having Rotatable Lubricant Pathway For Transmitting Lubricating Fluid To Desired Location

View page
US Patent:
20200018388, Jan 16, 2020
Filed:
Jul 16, 2018
Appl. No.:
16/036199
Inventors:
- Auburn Hills MI, US
Jason P. ELDRED - Swartz Creek MI, US
Ian D. WORCESTER - Royal Oak MI, US
Hongtao WANG - Rochester Hills MI, US
Gurmeet Singh BEDI - Rochester Hills MI, US
International Classification:
F16H 57/04
Abstract:
A vehicle driveline component having a housing, a shaft received in the housing, a lubricant pathway coupled to the shaft for rotation therewith, a sleeve disposed coaxially about the lubricant pathway, and a fluid feed conduit coupled to the component housing. The lubricant pathway is disposed helically about an exterior surface of the shaft. The sleeve has a feed port. The fluid feed conduit having an outlet that is in fluid communication with the feed port. Lubricant in the lubricant pathway that has been discharged from the outlet of the fluid feed conduit travels in a predetermined axial direction along the rotary axis of the shaft when the shaft rotates about the rotary axis in a predetermined rotational direction.

Driveline Component Having Oil Distributor Sleeve

View page
US Patent:
20200018389, Jan 16, 2020
Filed:
Jul 16, 2018
Appl. No.:
16/035984
Inventors:
- Auburn Hills MI, US
Jason P. ELDRED - Swartz Creek MI, US
Ian D. WORCESTER - Royal Oak MI, US
Hongtao WANG - Rochester Hills MI, US
Gurmeet Singh BEDI - Rochester Hills MI, US
International Classification:
F16H 57/04
F16D 13/74
Abstract:
A driveline component that includes a shaft, a friction clutch, a lubricant passage and an oil distributor sleeve. The friction clutch includes a hub with a hub portion and a plate mount. The oil distributor sleeve is received on the plate mount so that a lubricant chamber is disposed radially between the oil distributor sleeve and the hub portion. The lubricant passage is disposed between the shaft and the lubricant chamber and has a passage outlet that intersects the lubricant chamber. The oil distribution sleeve receives lubrication discharged from the passage outlet and directs the received lubrication to apertures formed through the plate mount.

Vehicle Drivetrain Component Having An Internal Vent Relocation Tube For Venting A Housing Of The Vehicle Drivetrain Component

View page
US Patent:
20190309840, Oct 10, 2019
Filed:
Jul 24, 2018
Appl. No.:
16/043233
Inventors:
- Auburn Hills MI, US
Jeffrey ELDER - Kimball MI, US
Ian D. WORCESTER - Royal Oak MI, US
Hongtao WANG - Rochester Hills MI, US
International Classification:
F16H 57/027
B60K 17/344
F16H 57/04
Abstract:
A driveline power transmitting component having a power transfer assembly disposed in a housing. The housing defines a vent aperture and a sump. A lubricating fluid is disposed in the sump and portions of the power transfer assembly travel through the lubricating fluid so that a lubrication surge zone and a splash lubrication zone are formed. The vent aperture is disposed in at least one of the surge zone, the splash lubrication zone and the sump when the driveline power transmitting component is disposed in at least one orientation in a predetermined range of operating positions in which the driveline power transmitting component can be operated. A breather relocation conduit is employed to permit air to be vented from the housing to the vent aperture without intaking lubricating fluid into the breather relocation conduit.

Transfer Case Lubrication System With Snubber

View page
US Patent:
20180163848, Jun 14, 2018
Filed:
Dec 1, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/828476
Inventors:
- Auburn Hills MI, US
Ian Daniel WORCESTER - Royal Oak MI, US
Branden Levi REEVES - Oxford MI, US
International Classification:
F16H 57/04
F16H 57/05
F16H 7/06
B60K 17/344
F16H 7/18
Abstract:
A lubrication system for a transfer case may include a sump. A drive chain may be in operable association with the sump. A snubber may be disposed in close proximity to the drive chain. The snubber may include a channel and a conduit in fluid communication with the channel.

Lubricant Fluid Storage And Routing Features For Active Transfer Case With Passive Lubricant Fluid System

View page
US Patent:
20180119796, May 3, 2018
Filed:
Oct 27, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/795324
Inventors:
- Auburn Hills MI, US
Ian Daniel WORCESTER - Royal Oak MI, US
Robert Martin QUINN - Washington MI, US
International Classification:
F16H 57/04
F16D 13/52
F16D 13/74
F16H 7/02
Abstract:
An active transfer case for a motor vehicle may comprise a clutch assembly configured to rotatably couple a primary output shaft to an input sprocket when engaged. The clutch assembly may include a clutch pack having a plurality of clutch plates, and a clutch hub having a clutch hub center defined between an inner ring and an outer ring. The outer ring of the clutch hub may have a hub aperture placing the clutch hub center in fluid communication with the clutch plates. The active transfer case may further comprise a retainer slidingly inserted in the clutch hub center between the inner ring and the outer ring. The retainer may include a retainer aperture that aligns with the hub aperture of the clutch hub when the clutch assembly is engaged to permit a flow of a lubricant fluid from the clutch hub center to the clutch plates.
