Digital Subscriber Line Access Sharing Method And Device

View page
US Patent:
20070116056, May 24, 2007
Filed:
Oct 11, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/546208
Inventors:
Rene Cruz - La Jolla CA, US
Huseyin Akin - San Diego CA, US
Rajesh Mishra - San Diego CA, US
International Classification:
H04H 1/04
US Classification:
370487000, 370493000
Abstract:
A method of sharing digital subscriber line resources is provided by the invention. In a digital subscriber line (DSL) communication system including a central office connected to customer premises over telephone lines, a resource sharing method includes establishing a LAN (local area network) network through a junction box shared by a plurality of customer premises. LAN communications are used to coordinate sharing of DSL resources provided from a central office to the junction box. The DSL data bandwidth provided to the junction box from the central office is shared by the customers in the LAN. Methods of the invention can be carried out with a junction box or junction box modifications. A junction box has resources provided from a central office and connects to customer premises. A resource sharing junction box of the invention provides aggregated communication channels to enable resource sharing of a plurality of customer telephone lines for resource sharing. Connectors connect the junction box to a plurality of customer premises. Networking DSL modems of the invention are able to communicate via a LAN provided by the junction box to achieve resource sharing of the bandwidth provided to the junction box.

Base-Station Aided Resource Sharing Broadband Access System, Methods, And Devices

US Patent:
20070153807, Jul 5, 2007
Filed:
Dec 7, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/635289
Inventors:
Rene Cruz - La Jolla CA, US
Huseyin Akin - San Diego CA, US
International Classification:
H04L 12/56
US Classification:
370395520, 709200000
Abstract:
Methods, systems and devices for sharing communication resources among a plurality of clients and base-stations that are part of a common wireless community. The communication resources are, for example, Internet access resources. Another example, might be a video or data delivery communication resource. As an example, clients have separate Internet access accounts. Embodiments of the invention, for example, allow client business units or residential units to share separate Internet access accounts.

Access Line Bonding And Splitting Methods And Apparatus

US Patent:
20080219281, Sep 11, 2008
Filed:
Feb 12, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/069886
Inventors:
Huseyin Cahit Akin - San Diego CA, US
Mustafa Arisoylu - San Diego CA, US
Rene L. Cruz - San Diego CA, US
Rajesh Mishra - San Diego CA, US
International Classification:
H04L 12/56
H04L 12/28
US Classification:
370419
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for aggregating communication channels. In one exemplary embodiment an aggregation device is required only on one side of the set of communication channels being aggregated. Advantageously, no modifications to the source and/or destination of data transfers are required for operation of the invention. In one embodiment utilized for data transfers in the downstream direction, object download requests can be fulfilled by sending a sequence of partial download requests through the set of communication channels being aggregated, and forwarding the resulting partial data objects received to the original requester in the proper order. In another embodiment utilized for upstream data transfers, traffic is bifurcated to travel along a set of communication channels, and the bifurcated traffic is reassembled either at the network layer or the transport layer.

Method And System For Allocating Power And Scheduling Packets In One Or More Cells Of A Wireless Communication System Or Network

View page
US Patent:
20040013101, Jan 22, 2004
Filed:
May 21, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/442696
Inventors:
Huseyin Akin - New York NY, US
Ozdemir Akin - Raleigh NC, US
International Classification:
H04B007/216
US Classification:
370/342000, 370/395210
Abstract:
Methods and systems are provided for allocating transmitting power and scheduling packets in one or more cells of a wireless communication system or network. The wireless communication system has a plurality of wireless cells. Each of the wireless cells includes a base station and a plurality of wireless stations. The method includes determining a channel gain for each preselected wireless station in the first wireless cell. Intercell interference experienced within the first wireless cell caused by the other wireless cells is determined. A power allocation and scheduling scheme is determined, based on the determined channel gains and the determined intercell interference. Transmitting power values and corresponding transmitting time durations within the first wireless cell are assigned, based on the scheme to improve total throughput in the first wireless cell.
