View page
US Patent:
20130110904, May 2, 2013
Filed:
Oct 27, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/282863
Inventors:
Hideki OKITA - Sunnyvale CA, US
Assignee:
HITACHI, LTD. - Tokyo
International Classification:
G06F 15/16
US Classification:
709203
Abstract:
In accordance with an aspect of the invention, a system comprises: a plurality of first nodes having an interface to receive via fibre channel protocol; a plurality of second nodes having an interface to receive via file access protocol; a layout management server which upon receiving from a client a write request containing file data to be written to any of the plurality of first and second nodes, returns to the client, information of location of data for the write request; and a gateway coupled to the plurality of first nodes and second nodes. The gateway converts access from file access protocol to fibre channel protocol so that a client issuing write requests in file access protocol is able to write file data to the plurality of first nodes via the gateway.

Method And Apparatus To Keep Consistency Of Acls Among A Meta Data Server And Data Servers

View page
US Patent:
20130291066, Oct 31, 2013
Filed:
Apr 25, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/456091
Inventors:
Hideki OKITA - Sunnyvale CA, US
Takahiro NAKANO - Lexington MA, US
Assignee:
HITACHI, LTD. - Tokyo
International Classification:
G06F 15/173
G06F 21/00
US Classification:
726 4, 709225
Abstract:
Exemplary embodiments may involve a meta-data server that manages data-server access control list (DS ACL) information. Each entry of this DS ACL information may include an address of a data server, an identification or a range address of chunk data on the data server, a file path of the chunk data in the file tree provided by the meta-data server, and addresses of the permitted clients. The meta-data server may determine the addresses of the permitted clients for the chunk data by retrieving the original file path of chunk data from layout information of the meta-data server, and by retrieving the entry containing the directory path that partially matches with the original file path from an access control list of the meta-data server.

Method And Apparatus To Migrate Existing Data Among Storage Systems

View page
US Patent:
20140047139, Feb 13, 2014
Filed:
Aug 9, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/570740
Inventors:
Hideki OKITA - Sunnyvale CA, US
International Classification:
G06F 3/00
US Classification:
710 38
Abstract:
According to an aspect of the invention, a computer comprises a memory; and a processor operable to manage a plurality of path groups, each of which includes a plurality of logical paths associated with a host computer, wherein each logical path of the plurality of logical paths connects the host computer to a logical volume of one or more logical volumes in one or more storage systems. The processor is operable to manage a priority of each path group of the plurality of path groups, and to use a logical path of a first path group instead of a logical path of a second path group for I/O (input/output) usage between the host computer and the one or more storage systems, representing a migration of I/O usage from the second path group to the first path group, based on at least the priorities of the first and second path groups.

Multi-Tenant Information Processing System, Management Server, And Configuration Management Method

US Patent:
20120311120, Dec 6, 2012
Filed:
Mar 15, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/421308
Inventors:
Yoshiko Yasuda - Saitama, JP
Yosuke Himura - Tokyo, JP
Hideki Okita - Sunnyvale CA, US
Mariko Nakayama - Tokyo, JP
Assignee:
Hitachi, Ltd. - Tokyo
International Classification:
G06F 15/173
US Classification:
709223
Abstract:
In a multi-tenant information processing system, when initially constructing a tenant, design items depending on the tenant are specified for each device constituting the tenant, and design values of the design items are calculated without overlapping with those of other tenants. In a tenant design item management table, the design items set for the devices and information indicating whether the design items depend on the tenant, are stored for each device. In a design algorithm management table, calculation formulae for making the design values to be different for each tenant are stored corresponding to the design items. A tenant design unit refers to the tenant design item management table, specifies the design items depending on the tenant among those corresponding to the devices constituting the tenant, calculates the design values of the design items according to the calculation formula, when initially constructing the tenant.

Method And Apparatus To Transfer File Data To A Cloud Environment

View page
US Patent:
20140195572, Jul 10, 2014
Filed:
Jan 4, 2013
Appl. No.:
13/734713
Inventors:
Hideki OKITA - Sunnyvale CA, US
Assignee:
HITACHI, LTD. - Tokyo
International Classification:
G06F 17/30
US Classification:
707827
Abstract:
Systems and methods are directed to a file storage system that manages configuration information for each cloud gateway's storage device. Systems and methods also manage a configuration parameter; and a file transfer slot number, which represents how many HTTP sessions the cloud gateway can process substantially simultaneously. Based on the configuration information, systems and methods may prioritize the multiple cloud gateways. Systems and methods calculate time lengths weighted by the priorities of the cloud gateways and multiplied by the file-transfer slot number for each cloud gateway in a time period, and then allocate time slots of the cloud gateways in the time period according to the above calculated time lengths. Systems and methods therefore allow for automatically aligning the traffic between cloud gateways and cloud storage according to the configuration of cloud gateways.
