Biomimetic Sonar System And Method

View page
US Patent:
6798715, Sep 28, 2004
Filed:
Jul 9, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/901751
Inventors:
John B. Harmon - Waimanalo HI
Whitlow Au - Kailua HI
Paul Eugene Nachtigall - Kailua HI
Herbert Lawrence Roitblat - Ventura CA
Assignee:
Neptune Technologies, Inc. - Honolulu HI
International Classification:
G01S 1589
US Classification:
367 99, 367 11
Abstract:
The Biomimetic Sonar invention ensonifies submerged objects, digitizes acoustic images reflected from the ensonified objects, and classifies and stores the digitized images using electronic processing derived from that believed to be used by , the bottlenose dolphin. The invention also provides a probable identification of an ensonified object based on comparison of an ensonified object with templates in a library of acoustic images.

Identifying Related Objects Using Quantum Clustering

View page
US Patent:
8010534, Aug 30, 2011
Filed:
Aug 31, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/848603
Inventors:
Herbert L. Roitblat - Ventura CA, US
Assignee:
Orcatec LLC - Marietta GA
International Classification:
G06F 17/30
US Classification:
707742, 707747
Abstract:
Techniques for grouping related objects such as documents and files using quantum clustering are disclosed. A method may include constructing a feature-object database of multiple objects. The feature-object database may have quantized selected features as keys. A connected objects database maybe built. Clusters of connected objects may be identified in the connected objects database. The clusters of identified objects may be evaluated to determine groups of related objects. The method may be implemented on a computing device.

Retrieval Of Documents Using Language Models

View page
US Patent:
8401841, Mar 19, 2013
Filed:
Aug 30, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/847915
Inventors:
Herbert L. Roitblat - Ventura CA, US
Assignee:
OrcaTec LLC - Ojai CA
International Classification:
G06F 17/27
US Classification:
704 9, 704 10, 7042563, 345168, 707723, 707749, 715255
Abstract:
Methods of retrieving documents using a language model are disclosed. A method may include preparing a language model of a plurality of documents, receiving a query, processing the query using the language model, and using the processed query to retrieve documents responding to the query via the search engine. The methods may be implemented in software and/or hardware on computing devices, including personal computers, telephones, servers, and others.

Process And System For Retrieval Of Documents Using Context-Relevant Semantic Profiles

View page
US Patent:
61890022, Feb 13, 2001
Filed:
Dec 8, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/457190
Inventors:
Herbert L. Roitblat - Honolulu HI
Assignee:
Dolphin Search - Honolulu HI
International Classification:
G06F 1730
US Classification:
707 1
Abstract:
A process and system for database storage and retrieval are described along with methods for obtaining semantic profiles from a training text corpus, i. e. , text of known relevance, a method for using the training to guide context-relevant document retrieval, and a method for limiting the range of documents that need to be searched after a query. A neural network is used to extract semantic profiles from text corpus. A new set of documents, such as world wide web pages obtained from the Internet, is then submitted for processing to the same neural network, which computes a semantic profile representation for these pages using the semantic relations learned from profiling the training documents. These semantic profiles are then organized into clusters in order to minimize the time required to answer a query. When a user queries the database, i. e.
