Method And Improved Apparatus For Analyzing Heart Activity

View page
US Patent:
46289399, Dec 16, 1986
Filed:
Nov 10, 1983
Appl. No.:
6/550350
Inventors:
Michael J. Little - Tarzana CA
Harry A. Dellamano - Thousand Oaks CA
Assignee:
Hughes Aircraft Company - Los Angeles CA
International Classification:
A61B 400
US Classification:
128696
Abstract:
A method and associated means for producing simultaneous electrical representations of the electrical and acoustical (heart sound) activity of the heart, in which a pickup device and associated circuits produce a full wave rectified symmetrical heart sound signal annotated by pulses developed from the QRS wave of the electrocardiogram signal. The pickup device is designed to permit the direct (unbuffered) application of the pickup electrodes to the skin of the body and to provide a control of the associated circuits when not in contact with the body to shorten response times when the pickup device is placed in contact with the body.

Powerfactor Correcting Flyback Arrangement Having A Resonant Capacitor Element Connected Across The Switching Element

View page
US Patent:
55833985, Dec 10, 1996
Filed:
Sep 15, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/306499
Inventors:
Harry A. Dellamano - Thousand Oaks CA
Andrew P. Kisylia - Agoura Hills CA
Assignee:
MagneTek, Inc. - Nashville TN
International Classification:
H05B 3702
US Classification:
315247
Abstract:
A preferred embodiment of the present invention provides a ballast circuit, comprising three sections: an input power section that receives a line AC signal as an input and provides a DC signal as an output; a pre-regulator section that conditions the DC signal; and a lamp driver section that drives a gas discharge lamp load. The pre-regulator section includes a transformer with an input winding, an output winding, and a current sense winding. The input winding receives the DC signal provided by the input power section. The output winding is connected in a flyback configuration with a flyback blocking diode, a bulk storage capacitor, and an output terminal for the conditioned DC signal. The current sense winding generates a signal proportional to the level of the transformer current. The transformer current is controlled by a flyback switch.

Signal Measuring And Display Control Method And Apparatus

View page
US Patent:
41588096, Jun 19, 1979
Filed:
Feb 28, 1977
Appl. No.:
5/772628
Inventors:
Harry A. Dellamano - Thousand Oaks CA
Assignee:
Beckman Instruments, Inc. - Fullerton CA
International Classification:
G01R 1706
H03K 520
G01R 1916
US Classification:
324 99D
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for measuring the magnitude of a varying analog signal and for displaying a close approximation of a final stabilized value before the signal reaches stabilization. An analog-to-digital converter converts the analog signal to corresponding digital pulse signals and the digital pulse signals are displayed to an operator. Automatic display-hold circuitry determines the pulse count difference between successive pulse count signals separated by a predetermined time interval, compares the difference to predetermined value, and, when the predetermined value is reached, generates a control signal which locks the displayed value and prevents the display from updating as the analog signal continues to vary. The difference between pulse signals is taken by storing the first signal in an up/down counter and decrementing the counter in response to the second signal. The circuitry determines the pulse count difference and the sign of the difference between the two signals by counting either (1) the number of remaining pulses in the second signal after the counter decrements to zero or (2) the number of additional pulses required to decrement the counter to zero after termination of the second signal.

Inventors:
- Dallas TX, US
Kenneth Lyle Reed - Dallas TX, US
Robert Raymond Bulger - Dallas TX, US
Claire Denault - Dallas TX, US
Harry Dellamano - Santa Rosa Valley CA, US
Paul Griffith - Santa Rosa Valley CA, US
Francis Menezes - Simi Valley CA, US
International Classification:
A61N 1/378
A61N 1/05
A61N 1/36
Abstract:
An implantable head-mounted, radiofrequency (RF) coupled, unibody peripheral neurostimulation system is provided for implantation in the head for the purpose of treating chronic head pain, including migraine. The system may include an implantable pulse generator (IPG) from which multiple stimulating leads may extend sufficient to allow for adequate stimulation over multiple regions of the head, preferably including the frontal, parietal and occipital regions. A lead may include an extended body, along which may be disposed a plurality of surface metal electrodes (SME), which may be subdivided into a plurality of electrode arrays. A plurality of internal metal wires may run a portion of its length and connect the IPG's internal circuit to the SME. The IPG may include an RF receiver coil and an application specific integrated circuit. The IPG may be capable of functional connection to an external RF unit for purposes that may include power, diagnostics, and programming.
