Pipe Fitting Support Bracket

View page
US Patent:
61491071, Nov 21, 2000
Filed:
Sep 21, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/158174
Inventors:
Steven H. Kerr - Canyon Country CA
Harry H. Bekeredjian - Canoga Park CA
Assignee:
Spears Manufacturing Co. - Sylmar CA
International Classification:
F16L 300
US Classification:
248 49
Abstract:
A one-piece, prefabricated bracket is provided which conveniently and effectively supports a pipe fitting having a change-of-direction section to an adjacent surface. The bracket is comprised of a body, a surround element, means for supporting the pipe fitting and means for attaching the bracket to the surface. In a typical embodiment, the bracket is adapted for supporting a T fitting or an ell fitting. The surround element is sized and dimensioned to surround the change-of-direction section of the pipe fitting so as to firmly retain the pipe fitting within the bracket. The attachment means is typically a pair of spaced-apart flanges attached to the body.

Durable Plastic/Metal Transition Fitting

View page
US Patent:
54374812, Aug 1, 1995
Filed:
Oct 13, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/136301
Inventors:
Wayne Spears - Sylmar CA
Harry Bekeredjian - Van Nuys CA
Assignee:
Spears Manufacturing Company - Sylmar CA
International Classification:
F16L 5500
US Classification:
285174
Abstract:
A fitting suitable for coupling a plastic pipe to an externally threaded metal element, such as a sprinkler head, comprises a coupling, an external, metallic reinforcing collar on the coupling, an internally threaded insert in the coupling, and an O-ring. The collar is shaped to prevent rotation, and is held in place by a lip on the insert. The O-ring is held in a chamfered recess on the external surface of the insert.

High Purity Corrosion Resistant Butterfly Valve

View page
US Patent:
61421731, Nov 7, 2000
Filed:
Jul 30, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/688332
Inventors:
Harry H. Bekeredjian - Canoga Park CA
Jose M. Magno - North Hollywood CA
Garry L. Miller - Saugus CA
Douglas R. Swingley - Saugus CA
Assignee:
Spears Manufacturing Company - Sylmar CA
International Classification:
F16L 700
US Classification:
137375
Abstract:
A high purity, corrosion resistant butterfly valve comprises a pair of body halves each having an inner surface and an outer surface, and an inner face extending between the inner surface and the outer surface; a liner fitted to the inner surface of the body halves and defining a fluid media passage; and a disk member mounted on a stem and pivotally movable in the fluid media passage between open and closed positions. No sealing element is provided between the inner faces of the body to enable the fluid media to pass between the inner faces to the outer surface if leakage occurs and provide an external indication of leakage. The liner and the disk member form a direct seal in the closed position and are substantially the only elements of the butterfly valve that are wetted during service. The liner and the disk member are formed of materials that are corrosion resistant and substantially chemically inert and non-contaminating with respect to high purity, de-ionized water.

Union Fitting Replacement Nut

View page
US Patent:
63024462, Oct 16, 2001
Filed:
Jan 24, 2000
Appl. No.:
9/496027
Inventors:
Wayne Spears - Sylmar CA
Harry Bekeredjian - Sylmar CA
Assignee:
Spears Manufacturing Co. - Sylmar CA
International Classification:
F16L 3500
US Classification:
285 33
Abstract:
A union fitting replacement nut having a nut body and a peripheral strap. The nut body is formed from a pair of C-shaped members. The nut body is internally threaded to cooperate with the external threads of the union fitting to which the union replacement nut is to be installed. The peripheral strap is typically a steel strap having opposed first and second ends. Attachment means, such as an adjustment screw, is provided to incrementally adjust the tightness of the peripheral strap to rigidly retain the two C-shaped members of the nut body. Once assembled, the union replacement nut can be used in the same way as a prior art integral union nut.
