A system and method for encryption of data is disclosed. At least one block of the data is received. The at least one block of data is modified to cause each unique data element within the at least one block to appear with a respective predetermined frequency ratio. The block of data is encrypted into ciphertext based at least on an encryption key.

In a mailbox having walls that define an interior space and a door which allows access to the interior space, an apparatus for illuminating the interior of the mailbox comprises a housing adapted to be affixed to the interior of the mailbox, the housing including an illumination source; a mount to affix the housing to the interior of the mailbox; a magnetic switch in operative engagement with the illumination source to light the illumination source, the switch operating in an off state and an on state; and, a magnet, affixed to the door, which moves between a first position and a second position so as to determine the state of the magnetic switch.

Abstract:
A portable astray includes a receptacle portion for receiving a cigarette and a releasably attached top portion for covering the receptacle portion. The top portion includes an aperture of sufficient size to allow a cigarette to pass therethrough to the receptacle portion. A flap is included for closing the aperture, the flap being constructed and arranged to move between a first position whereby the aperture is closed, and a second position whereby the aperture is open to allow the cigarette to pass through the aperture to the receptacle portion.

A safety receptacle includes an insulating housing including a socket assembly having a first contact means and a second contact means therein adapted to receive the prongs of an electric plug, and first and second terminal means wherein the second terminal means is electrically active. A means for completing an electrical circuit through the prongs of the electric plug only when the prongs are in contact with the contact means includes means for electrically connecting the second contact means to the second terminal means only when one prong of the electric plug is received in the first contact means.

An event verification system comprises an input for the reception of information and an encryption algorithm to encrypt the information; an electronic recorder to record the encrypted information and a decryption algorithm to decrypt recorded information; at least one programmable memory to store at least one cryptographic key for use with the encryption and decryption algorithms; a tamperproof enclosure to protect the input and at least one programmable memory from access or alteration; and, a trusted agent to generate at least one cryptographic key to be used in conjunction with the encryption and decryption algorithms, the trusted agent programming any generated cryptographic key into at least one programmable memory for use with the encryption and decryption algorithms and, upon request, verifying the authenticity of the recorded information by decrypting the recorded information using at least one cryptographic key.
