About:
Hank Orenstein is pleased to join Warburg Realty after a successful career in real estate sales with Rubicon Property and Prudential Douglas Elliman. For the year 2010 he was ranked #6 out of over 2,000 Douglas Elliman agents citywide in number of successful deals, and #1 at the Westside/Harlem offices out of over 250 people. Hank has represented sellers and buyers in many different neighborhoods, with an exemplary track record on the Upper West Side and Harlem --selling 70 apartments during the past five years. A native New Yorker raised in Harlem and Washington Heights, Hank is a licensed NYC Tour Guide with an extensive knowledge and passion for all the City has to offer. He was featured in the Wall Street Journal (April, 2013) as a “minor genius” for integrating tour guiding with real estate. His walking tours, including “Let’s Explore Harlem,” and “The Financial District: Living Where America was Born,” have been featured in the New York Times. He has led over 2,000 walking and bus tours in New York City and hosts a meetup.com group called “Exploring NYC History and Neighborhoods” which has well over 1,000 members. Hank is a long-time cooperative home-owner on the Upper West Side and has been an officer on his Board for years currently as President. He loves to assist people in finding the home of their dreams and strongly values providing the highest level of customer service with honesty and integrity. Hank loves to utilize his neighborhood knowledge to e market homes for sale and offers walking tours to assist home buyers in finding the areas that best fit their lifestyle and budget. Hank, who earned an undergraduate degree in English from Coe College and a Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from the University of Iowa, directed programs at the Citizen’s Advice Bureau in The Bronx, and has also served on the faculty of Columbia and Fordham Universities. For five years, he served NYC’s Public Advocate, the second- ranking City official, as a child welfare expert, advocating on behalf of abused and neglected children. Hank is a featured character in Hands to Work, a non-fiction novel by Columbia University Journalism Professor, LynNell Hancock. In this book, you can find him assisting homeless families to gain housing and employment. Hank is a fine art photographer who has had solo and group exhibitions in Manhattan. His works decorate private homes and offices, and have been donated to auctions benefiting schools, hospitals and programs for disadvantaged children. Hank serves on the Board of Directors of Information for Families, Inc., a non-profit organization that publishes and distributes a free newsletter for homeless and relocated families since 1987.
