Business Method For A Vehicle Safety Management System

View page
US Patent:
20040236596, Nov 25, 2004
Filed:
Feb 27, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/789427
Inventors:
Mahesh Chowdhary - San Jose CA, US
Gunasekaran Govindarajan - Santa Clara CA, US
International Classification:
G05D001/00
US Classification:
705/001000
Abstract:
A Vehicle Safety Management System (“VSM”) detects safe driving behavior in a vehicle. The system includes a plurality of unsafe driving events, including tailgating, frequent lane changes, speed limit violation, speed limit violation over a curved segment of road, rapid acceleration from a start, and rapid deceleration to a stop. The vehicle is equipped with an event detection module. The event detection module includes a circuit that acquires vehicle data for parameters associated with movement of the vehicle. The event detection module also includes a processor for executing algorithms that determine whether movement of the vehicle meets one or more pre-determined conditions. If the pre-determined conditions are met, event data for one or more unsafe driving events are generated. The event detection module includes a transceiver to send and receive data between the vehicle and a server. The server presents event data to a customer so as to allow the customer to view unsafe driving behavior data for the customer's fleet. For example, the application server may generate reports that detail the unsafe driving events for a driver, vehicle, condition, etc.

Location-Based Authentication

US Patent:
20070101438, May 3, 2007
Filed:
Oct 26, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/586932
Inventors:
Gunasekaran Govindarajan - Santa Clara CA, US
International Classification:
H04L 9/32
US Classification:
726027000
Abstract:
A method and system to configure data, such that access to data is protected based on a location. Once the data is configured, it can only be accessed from authorized locations, which are locations from which the location protected data is allowed to be accessed. Moreover, the location protected data is encrypted by using Data Encryption Keys (DEKs). DEKs are encrypted by using the authorized location information. A method and system for managing access to the location protected data is also disclosed. A request is received to access the location protected data from a location. Access to the location protected data is granted when the location is an authorized location. Once access is granted, DEKs are retrieved and the location protected data is decrypted. DEKs are periodically replaced with newly generated DEKs.

Location Source Authentication

US Patent:
20090100260, Apr 16, 2009
Filed:
May 7, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/151476
Inventors:
Gunasekaran Govindarajan - San Diego CA, US
International Classification:
H04L 9/00
G08B 5/22
US Classification:
713155, 34082536, 713171
Abstract:
A method and system to validate the source of the location data, such that access to location based service is protected based on a location. When the source of the location data is verified, an authentication, and/or a temporary key pair are generated for the computational device to successfully get the location based service. Moreover, the Location Based Service is assured of providing service to the computational device only at the authorized location. A method and system for managing access to the location based service is also disclosed. A request is received to authenticate the source of the location either by the computational device or by the location based service provider. Access to the location based service is granted when the location is an authorized location. Once access is granted, the temporary key pair is used for successful transactions. Moreover, the validity of the location source is constantly validated by expiring the temporary key pair with time duration.

Arranging On A Communications Network Meetings Between Persons Where The Instant Estimated Time Of Arrival At A Meeting Of Each Prospective Attendee Is Calculated And Displayed To The Subject Attendee, And To All Prospective Attendees

View page
US Patent:
20100211425, Aug 19, 2010
Filed:
Feb 18, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/660076
Inventors:
Gunasekaran Govindarajan - San Diego CA, US
International Classification:
G06Q 10/00
G01C 21/34
G01C 21/00
G06F 15/16
US Classification:
705 8, 701204, 701213, 701300, 709205
Abstract:
In a method performed on and between communicating devices distributed upon a communications network for the purpose(s) of soliciting and arranging and initiating a meeting, the communication device of each prospective attendee of a meeting supplies its instant geographical location to a central computer. The central computer calculates from the received instant geographical locations, and preferably also any of weather, traffic flow rate, traffic roadblocks and stoppages, the traffic route being followed to the meeting location, and the actual rate of progress along the route to the meeting location—the estimated time of arrival of each prospective attendee at the meeting. This ETA for each prospective meeting attendee is sent from the central computer to the communications devices of all prospective attendees, permitting each and all to see their own progress or lack thereof, and also that of others, to the meeting. The instant geographical locations of all prospective attendees supplied to the central computer are likewise preferably distributed by the central computer to all prospective attendees, and graphically displayed in real time.
