Abstract:
This invention unifies a set of statistical signal processing, neuromorphic systems, and microelectronic implementation techniques for blind separation and recovery of mixed signals. A set of architectures, frameworks, algorithms, and devices for separating, discriminating, and recovering original signal sources by processing a set of received mixtures and functions of said signals are described. The adaptation inherent in the referenced architectures, frameworks, algorithms, and devices is based on processing of the received, measured, recorded or otherwise stored signals or functions thereof. There are multiple criteria that can be used alone or in conjunction with other criteria for achieving the separation and recovery of the original signal content from the signal mixtures. The composition adopts both discrete-time and continuous-time formulations with a view towards implementations in the digital as well as the analog domains of microelectronic circuits. This invention focuses on the development and formulation of dynamic architectures with adaptive update laws for multi-source blind signal separation/recovery.

Filed:
Oct 12, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/977039
Inventors:
Gamze Erten - Okemos MI
Assignee:
Clarity, LLC - Troy MI
International Classification:
G05B 106
US Classification:
318653, 318118, 318556, 318680, 310 26, 310103, 31015611, 31015636
Abstract:
Magnetic forces are used as a controlled actuation mechanism to move and position objects of interest. In one embodiment, a first spherical surface has at least one magnetic positioner attached. A second spherical surface is positioned to move relative to the first spherical surface. A plurality of controlled electromagnets are spaced about the second spherical surface. Control logic energizes at least one of the controlled electromagnets to create magnetic interaction with at least one magnetic positioner to move the first spherical surface relative to the second spherical surface.

US Patent:
6879082, Apr 12, 2005
Filed:
Mar 21, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/393758
Inventors:
Gamze Erten - Okemos MI, US
Mark D. Chuey - Northville MI, US
Assignee:
Clarity Technologies, Inc. - Auburn Hills MI
International Classification:
H02K001/22
US Classification:
310261, 310112
Abstract:
A positioner has a first surface with a plurality of controlled electromagnets and a second surface having a circular cross-section movably positioned relative to the first surface. A plurality of magnetic positioners are disposed around the second surface. Control logic energizes a sequence of the controlled electromagnets to create magnetic interaction with the plurality of magnetic positioner and thereby move the second surface relative to the first surface. A rotor may be positioned to rotate relative to the second surface. Electromagnetic pickups in proximity with the rotor receive a time-varying electromagnetic field from rotor magnets as the rotor rotates, thereby generating electrical energy.
