US Patent:
20060173425, Aug 3, 2006
Filed:
Jan 26, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/340315
Inventors:
Eugene Meierhoefer - Salem SC, US
International Classification:
A61M 35/00
US Classification:
604300000
Abstract:
An eye drop guide uses a mirror to locate the orifice of a dispenser in line with the eye. The mirror is positioned at about 50 degrees from the orifice so that when a patient tilts his head and positions the mirror to see his own eye the orifice is aligned so that fluid will accurately drop into the eye. The mirror's position is determined by an arm that is attached to the dispenser. The arm may fold against the dispenser or be fixed in place. The arm may also be positioned in relationship to the dispenser by a ring or clasp attached to the arm that slips over the dispenser to secure the arm to the dispenser.

Humidifier Unit

View page
US Patent:
41779452, Dec 11, 1979
Filed:
Mar 6, 1978
Appl. No.:
5/883609
Inventors:
Charles M. Schwartz - Columbus OH
Eugene J. Meierhoefer - Hackettstown NJ
Assignee:
Warner-Lambert Company - Morris Plains NJ
International Classification:
A61M 1102
B05B 730
US Classification:
239338
Abstract:
Humidifier and nebulizer adapter heads and humidifier assembly for inhalation therapy wherein high moisture content can be provided in a gas stream at high flow rates. The humidifier assembly consists of a disposable bottle and the disposable humidifier adapter head. The adapter head employs a conventional nebulizer to create a dense aerosol of sterile water and/or medicament entrained in an oxygen/air stream. The stream passes through a labyrinth of wide baffles which forces the stream to take a tortuous path resulting in turbulent flow and a high removal of droplets from the gas stream, but without generating a significant back pressure. The large surface area deflectors of the labyrinth also allow higher humidity of the gas stream due to evaporation. Water removed from the gas stream drains directly to the bottle.

Dual-Range Aspirator Device

View page
US Patent:
46129260, Sep 23, 1986
Filed:
Oct 11, 1985
Appl. No.:
6/786554
Inventors:
Anthony A. Boiarski - Columbus OH
Barbara H. Fleck - Randolph VT
Eugene J. Meierhoefer - Hackettstown NJ
Richard Razgaitis - Columbus OH
Assignee:
Battelle Development Corporation - Columbus OH
International Classification:
A61M 1102
US Classification:
12820021
Abstract:
An aspirator/nebulizer for use in inhalation therapy has dual oxygen nozzles extending into a cylindrical chamber into which air can be aspirated in a controlled manner via closable air holes. A 50 psig oxygen source can be diluted to atmospheric air to yield an oxygen/air mixture comprising less than 30% oxygen at the conventional patient flow rates of 30-60 liters per minute. The dual oxygen nozzles also allow pure oxygen to be delivered at rates of at least 40 liters per minute when such high flow rates of relatively pure oxygen are needed for short term therapy.
