Modular System With System Carrier, Test Carrier And System Connector

View page
US Patent:
43313736, May 25, 1982
Filed:
Mar 24, 1980
Appl. No.:
6/133100
Inventors:
Eugene F. Demnianiuk - San Diego CA
Assignee:
Burroughs Corporation - Detroit MI
International Classification:
H05K 102
US Classification:
339 91R
Abstract:
Disclosed is a modular system including a systems carrier, a test carrier and a systems connector for protecting an integrated circuit package during handling, testing, transportation and use. The system carrier comprises a frame with a large center opening to receive the package body and grooves to receive the package leads, and a bracket positionable on the frame to secure the package within the frame. This system carrier and the integrated circuit package become one unit which fits within the test carrier whose outside dimensions are determined by the testing machine in which the test carrier is positioned. The system carrier with its integrated circuit package also fits into the system connector which has leads for connecting the package leads to other conductors such as on a printed circuit board in an electronic system. The system connector also has means for retaining the system carrier and its package within the system connector and for maintaining electrical contact between the package and the remainder of the system.

Zero Insertion Force Connector For A Package With Staggered Leads

View page
US Patent:
43147364, Feb 9, 1982
Filed:
Mar 24, 1980
Appl. No.:
6/133099
Inventors:
Eugene F. Demnianiuk - San Diego CA
Assignee:
Burroughs Corporation - Detroit MI
International Classification:
H01R 1362
US Classification:
339 74R
Abstract:
Disclosed is a zero insertion force connector for receiving and electrically connecting a staggered lead integrated circuit package to other conductors. The connector comprises parallel rows of staggered spring biased connector leads to receive the package leads, which are spring biased toward an open position for receiving the package leads, and which are moved into and held in engagement with the package leads against their bias by oppositely acting camming devices to provide a mechanical, positive, connection with the package leads, said spring biased connector leads also serving to open said connector leads against the camming force as the camming action is reversed.

Levered System Connector For An Integrated Circuit Package

View page
US Patent:
43811310, Apr 26, 1983
Filed:
May 4, 1981
Appl. No.:
6/260268
Inventors:
Eugene F. Demnianiuk - San Diego CA
Assignee:
Burroughs Corporation - Detroit MI
International Classification:
H01R 2372
US Classification:
339 75M
Abstract:
The disclosed system connector is comprised of a frame that is adapted to receive an integrated circuit package such that electrical conductors in the frame align with corresponding electrical conductors in the integrated circuit package. A pivotal member, connected to the frame, replaceably secures the integrated circuit package to the frame and presses the aligned electrical conductors together. This pivotal member has a latching portion that follows tracks in the frame to press and latch the aligned electrical conductors together, and has a lever portion that pivots the latching portion along the tracks with a mechanical advantage.
