Magnetizer Holding Fixture

View page
US Patent:
56592795, Aug 19, 1997
Filed:
Aug 29, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/521034
Inventors:
David C. Janssen - Whitefish Bay WI
Eric J. Neusen - Brown Deer WI
Assignee:
Strattec Security Corp. - Milwaukee WI
International Classification:
H01F 720
US Classification:
335284
Abstract:
A device and method are provided for magnetizing a control magnet housed in a cylinder of an ignition lock. The cylinder is placed in a cylinder receipt member and orientated therein so that the magnet is aligned in a predetermined position. The control magnet is then saturated with a first saturating magnetic charge. The control magnet is then calibrated to a predetermined magnetic level by one or more calibrating magnetic charges, opposite in polarity to the saturating magnetic charge. The control magnet may then be checked for predetermined magnetic characteristics.

US Patent:
50833626, Jan 28, 1992
Filed:
Dec 13, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/626759
Inventors:
James R. Edgar - Milwaukee WI
Eric J. Neusen - Milwaukee WI
Assignee:
Briggs & Stratton Corp. - Wauwatosa WI
International Classification:
B23P 1904
E05B 4900
E05B 1900
US Classification:
29509
Abstract:
A key with a resistor pellet is assembled by mechanically inserting the pellet into a suitable aperture in the key and displacing a portion of the key material into the body of the pellet by compressing the key around the perimeter of the pellet in a swaging process. The pellet is automatically selected from a plurality of pellets having a plurality of distinctive resistance properties. The pellet is tested to determine conformance with a pre-selected resistance property prior to insertion in the key. After insertion and swaging of the pellet in the key, the resistance properties of the pellet are reconfirmed.
