Managing Windows Through Policies

View page
US Patent:
20130042201, Feb 14, 2013
Filed:
Sep 30, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/570627
Inventors:
Eric Berdahl - Morgan Hill CA, US
Scott Kovatch - Pleasanton CA, US
Assignee:
ADOBE SYSTEMS INCORPORATED - San Jose CA
International Classification:
G06F 3/048
G06F 9/46
US Classification:
715781, 719328
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer program products feature receiving, from a client application running in a virtual machine and displayed within a first window of a graphic display, a request to create a second window within the graphic display. In an example implementation, a first set of one or more parameters is received in association with the request. The request and some or all of the first set of one or more parameters are provided to a host application. An indication of a determination is received from the host application as to whether the second window has been created. The determination is based on a policy of the host application. The indication of the determination is provided to the client application. If the indication of the determination indicates that the second window has been created, the indication further includes an identifier associated with the second window.

Embedded Application Communication

US Patent:
20130167157, Jun 27, 2013
Filed:
Aug 25, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/547431
Inventors:
Michael Daumling - Adendorf, DE
Eric Berdahl - Morgan Hill CA, US
International Classification:
G06F 3/00
G06F 9/46
US Classification:
719318, 719328, 718 1
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for embedded application communication. In one aspect, a method includes providing a first Application Programming Interface (API) in the host application, where the first API is configured to interact with a virtual machine object model of the virtual machine to allow the host application to set and get properties of one or more first class instances residing in a virtual machine memory space, and to invoke methods on the first class instances, and providing a second API in the virtual machine configured to interact with a host application object model in the host application.

Object-Oriented Viewing Framework Having View Grouping

View page
US Patent:
56153260, Mar 25, 1997
Filed:
Dec 30, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/175910
Inventors:
Debra L. Orton - San Jose CA
Eric M. Berdahl - San Jose CA
Assignee:
Taligent, Inc. - Cupertino CA
International Classification:
G06F 314
US Classification:
395356
Abstract:
A view system provides an extensible mechanism for associating a logical set of windows and manipulating them as a unit. For example, operations can be applied across address spaces to all the members of the group. A group is constructed by inserting a reference to each view in the group in a layer object. The layer object, in turn, can be inserted into a data hierarchy structure in a hierarchy object. The data hierarchy structure defines front to back display levels on a display and defines which windows overlap. Since all the members of the group are in the same layer object, they move to different levels as a group. Polymorphism and extensibility are provided via the object-oriented architecture of the operating system.

System For Processing User Events With Input Device Entity Associated With Event Producer Which Further Links Communication From Event Consumer To The Event Producer

View page
US Patent:
57130450, Jan 27, 1998
Filed:
Jun 29, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/496740
Inventors:
Eric M. Berdahl - San Jose CA
Assignee:
Object Technology Licensing Corporation - Cupertino CA
International Classification:
G06F 900
US Classification:
395893
Abstract:
A method, system and article of manufacture which provides a set of frameworks for developing object-oriented desktop systems. The set of frameworks includes several framework subsystems for implementing input, output, graphics, documents, compound documents, and documents with graphics. The input system comprises a set of objects which handles the details of input, including receiving and distributing events. The input system also includes management of such events so that reception, distribution and handling of events is handled in an orderly manner. The input system include specialized objects for handling keyboard input and mouse input.

Managing Documents And Document Workspaces

View page
US Patent:
20150205775, Jul 23, 2015
Filed:
Oct 23, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/257097
Inventors:
Eric Berdahl - San Jose CA, US
Marissa Dulaney - Morgan Hill CA, US
Jesper Storm Bache - Menlo Park CA, US
International Classification:
G06F 3/048
G06F 3/0484
G06F 17/21
Abstract:
A computer-implemented method for combining documents includes displaying one or more documents in a first document group in a source window; displaying one or more documents in a second document group in a target window; receiving an instruction to move the source window towards the target window; moving the source window so that it overlaps the target window; receiving an instruction to release the source window; and combining the documents in the first document group with the documents in the second document group to create a new document group in the target window, where the new document group comprises a first document subgroup which comprises the documents in the first document group and a second document subgroup which comprises the documents in the second document group, and where the target window is subdivided with a visual indication that the first document subgroup is separate from the second document subgroup.
