System And Testing Biological And Chemical Agents Using Two Or More Cartridges Simulating Systems In The Body And Methods

View page
US Patent:
7943371, May 17, 2011
Filed:
Oct 12, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/546704
Inventors:
Edward J. Rapp - Cleveland Heights OH, US
Assignee:
Cleveland Medical Devices Inc. - Cleveland OH
International Classification:
C12M 1/12
US Classification:
4352974
Abstract:
The present invention relates to joining two or more cartridges containing cell or tissue cultures from different organs found in the human body in fluid connection. It includes a vitro method and system for testing chemicals and agents as they pass through organs other than the brain or combinations of body systems including the brain. It greatly enhances the ability for researchers to test a proposed chemical or agent on human cells and tissue prior to testing it in vivo. Often, it is found that chemicals or agents have different reactions when tested on a single organ in vitro or in animals, than it does in the human body.

Computer Numerical Control Machine Tool

View page
US Patent:
41998146, Apr 22, 1980
Filed:
Oct 12, 1977
Appl. No.:
5/841597
Inventors:
Edward J. Rapp - Cleveland Heights OH
Glen A. Johnson - Cleveland OH
Assignee:
Digitcom, Inc. - Mentor OH
International Classification:
G06F 1546
G05B 1918
US Classification:
364474
Abstract:
This invention relates to a computer numerical control (CNC) machine tool system having a novel terminal controller and system therefor to control a machine tool generally with at least two axes and more probably three, with stepping motor controls for point-to-point positioning of the machine tool to an almost infinite variety of steps (generally not more than 200). The novelty resides in the ease of programming directly on the terminal controller of the CNC machine tool system. Generally at least some editing and offsets will be programmed from the machine tool. The terminal controller consists of a microprocessor with some RAM and ROM, together with address and data bus plus I/O for magnetic tape handling and display for 6 to 8 digits in each of the X and Y positions, together with numeric keyboard for data input to the program steps and functional keys to control operation-automatic, manual and step-by-step, as well as controls for program input from tape to memory and memory to tape. Particular features include the ease of inputting a program and preparing a tape and then editing the tape while in operation. Further features include circular and linear interpolation.

Electronic Numeric Generator

US Patent:
47137878, Dec 15, 1987
Filed:
Aug 31, 1984
Appl. No.:
6/646123
Inventors:
Edward J. Rapp - Cleveland Heights OH
Assignee:
Fork, Inc. - New Philadelphia OH
International Classification:
G06F 102
G06F 1528
A63B 7100
A63F 100
US Classification:
364717
Abstract:
An enhancement to a typical four-function calculator. With this enhanced calculator, lottery players may generate psuedo-random integer combinations for their use in selecting numbers on which to place their bets. The enhanced calculator allows users to select the type of lottery game for which the number combinations will be generated by specifying the quantity of numbers generated and the bounds of the range within which the numbers will be generated through two key strokes of dedicated keys. The first key stroke utilizes a key designated by the particular lottery game. The second key stroke utilizes a key designated by a popular range of numbers used by the various lotteries. This invention relieves the user from having to rely on his limited supply of "magical" dates, ages, social security numbers and so forth.

Assay And Point Of Care Device Utilizing Saliva For Diagnosis And Treatment Of Neurological Conditions Affecting Brain Health

View page
US Patent:
20190053744, Feb 21, 2019
Filed:
Dec 6, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/833160
Inventors:
Damir Janigro - Cleveland Heights OH, US
Aaron Dadas - Northfield OH, US
Edward J. Rapp - Cleveland Heights OH, US
Assignee:
FloTBI Inc. - Cleveland OH
International Classification:
A61B 5/145
G01N 33/68
C12Q 1/6883
A61B 5/15
G01N 33/53
Abstract:
The present invention relates to systems and methods for assessing brain health and detecting neurological conditions. The invention more particularly relates to systems and methods for diagnosing neurological conditions and analyzing rain health from analysis of a biological fluid sample, such as a saliva sample, that looks for and determines the significance of peripheral markers of blood-brain barrier disruption. The present invention further provides a diagnostic system and method with a higher negative predictive value of brain injury than currently known tests are able to provide, so as to reduce the need for computerized tomography or magnetic resonance imaging scans to affirmatively determine that brain or cerebrovascular injury has not occurred, and thus to improve suspected brain injury patient health care while reducing the expense of such care.
