Magnetic Bouncing Ball And Target Game

View page
US Patent:
20050009438, Jan 13, 2005
Filed:
Jul 7, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/614712
Inventors:
Thomas Chojnacki - Lake Mills WI, US
John Chojnacki - Gates Mills OH, US
Edward Chanter - Avon Lake OH, US
International Classification:
A63H033/06
US Classification:
446120000
Abstract:
A magnaball toy is advantageously formed from an embedded spherical rare earth magnet (e.g., NdFeB, SmCo, AlNiCo, etc.) placed within an elastopolymer shell. A pair of balls may be dropped from about a meter and have a high probability of sticking together as they bounce. In some applications, allowing for free rotation of a spherical magnet inside the ball allows for a predictable attractive behavior of the ball. This feature brings various novel gaming aspects to the magnaball toy.

Toy Vehicle

US Patent:
48223166, Apr 18, 1989
Filed:
Jun 8, 1987
Appl. No.:
7/059633
Inventors:
Ralph E. Shaffer - Columbia Station OH
Edward G. Chanter - Lakewood OH
Randy j. Randleman - Cleveland OH
Robert H. Yeager - Parma Heights OH
Assignee:
Those Characters From Cleveland, Inc. - Independence OH
International Classification:
A63H 1726
A63H 17267
US Classification:
446466
Abstract:
A toy vehicle with a joint structure supporting the wheels of the toy vehicle in a manner that enables the vehicle and its wheels to be placed in a variety of unique and attractive orientations. The toy vehicle has a chassis and at least three wheels connected with the chassis by means of the joint structure. The joint structure enables each wheel to be independently adjusted relative to the chassis to selectively adjust the relative orientation of the chassis and one or more of the wheels. The joint structure can be adjusted by a manually applied torque, but when the joint structure is in an adjusted position, it can maintain its adjusted position under gravitational/inertial forces applied to it by the toy vehicle. Thus, the joint can be "adjustably retained" in selected adjusted position.

Toy Doll Or Article With Manipulative Appendage

View page
US Patent:
46858938, Aug 11, 1987
Filed:
May 27, 1986
Appl. No.:
6/866696
Inventors:
Jerzy Perkitny - Cleveland Heights OH
Edward G. Chanter - Lakewood OH
Assignee:
Those Characters From Cleveland, Inc. - Cleveland OH
International Classification:
A63H 344
US Classification:
446319
Abstract:
A toy doll or article comprising a main body, a variable length appendage having a root end attached to the main body and an outer free end, at least one flexible elongate element threaded through the appendage along the length thereof and having a root end attached to the main body and an outer free end, the appendage outwardly of the root end thereof being slidable along the elongate element and sufficiently flexible to ruffle and unruffle when slid inwardly and outwardly along the elongate element to vary the length of the appendage. In a toy doll, the appendage includes a plurality of hair-like strands which are bundled together as by braiding or by bands encircling the strands at selected locations spaced along the length of the bundle. The strands at the free end of the bundle are held by a holding band preferably in relatively tight engagement with the elongate element frictionally to hold the free end of the bundle against movement along the elongate element which may be a length of ribbon. Two elongate elements may be employed to provide easy and quick shortening of the appendage by progressively pulling apart their free ends to apply a force to the holding band overcoming the frictional resistance provided thereby and causing the free end of the appendage to be progressively moved inwardly along the elongate elements.

Deformable Toy Structure With Inverted Mouth

View page
US Patent:
52057739, Apr 27, 1993
Filed:
Nov 15, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/792964
Inventors:
Ingrid M. Koepcke - Lakewood OH
Michael A. Robertson - Cleveland OH
Richard E. Knight - Dubuque IA
Edward G. Chanter - Lakewood OH
Thomas G. Barnum - Reading OH
Assignee:
Those Characters From Cleveland - Cleveland OH
International Classification:
A63H 306
A63H 1300
A63H 2900
F41B 1100
US Classification:
446183
Abstract:
A squeeze toy has an outer body formed of generally resiliently deformable material which defines a main cavity. A portion of the body extends inwardly into the main cavity to form a receptacle. The receptacle includes a mouth which is dimensioned to enable a projectile to be inserted into and be supported by the receptacle. The receptacle has a configuration which normally causes an interference fit with the projectile to retain the projectile in the receptacle and prevent the receptacle from being removed through the mouth. The body of the squeeze toy can be deformed to cause a portion of the receptacle to be forced outward through the mouth and eject the projectile from the body.

Toy Simulator

US Patent:
50626477, Nov 5, 1991
Filed:
Jan 4, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/460766
Inventors:
Edward G. Chanter - Lakewood OH
Randy J. Randleman - Stillwater MN
Assignee:
Those Characters from Cleveland, Inc. - Cleveland OH
International Classification:
A63F 914
US Classification:
273442
Abstract:
A toy for testing and simulating the guidance skills of a user is provided. The toy includes a support unit for removably mounting the toy drum upon the limb of the user and a circular drum removably mounted for rotational upon said support unit. A travel path is formed upon the outer diameter of the drum and a travel element is positioned above the drum. A control mechanism is provided for altering the position of the travel element relative to the travel path. In operation, a motor rotates the drum in a first direction and an opposite direction relative to the support unit and a circuit selectively controls the rotation direction of the motor.
