Device Based Trigger For Location Push Event

View page
US Patent:
20080070588, Mar 20, 2008
Filed:
Oct 10, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/544724
Inventors:
Drew Morin - Davidsonville MD, US
International Classification:
H04Q 7/20
US Classification:
4554561
Abstract:
A software LBS trigger is initiated by a wireless device to request a set of proximate location information points relating to, e.g., points of interest, location tagged blogs, etc., based on the user's current location. The LBS trigger may be initiated when the user moves, and may include speed of the user to define a proximate area within which the user's device will be presented with relevant location information upon reaching. The size of the proximate area may be based on available memory in the wireless device, and/or on network bandwidth limitations. If walking, a smaller proximate area is defined, or if moving fast, the area of close proximity is larger. The location-based information points are stored locally on the user's device, and presentation to the user when the user gets closely proximate to the relevant information point.

911 Data Messaging

View page
US Patent:
20080081646, Apr 3, 2008
Filed:
Jun 20, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/812619
Inventors:
Drew Morin - Davidsonville MD, US
Mark Titus - Annapolis MD, US
Roger S. Marshall - Auburn WA, US
International Classification:
H04Q 7/20
US Classification:
455466
Abstract:
A short messaging system (SMS) emergency services 911 system (SMS E911). Excess non-voice capacity is used to establish a Short Message Service (SMS) capability for generating an emergency 911 “equivalent” call, together with location information required by emergency services and to meet Federal 911 requirements. 911 requests for emergency assistance are delivered using non-voice centric sources such as SMS, email, and/or autonomous data/message generation devices. SMS 911 capability enables SMS savvy consumers to generate requests for emergency assistance to the local Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP). The SMS 911 emergency services request can be understood by an otherwise conventional PSAP, including provision of location information, and translated to provide first responders with the emergency services information they need to offer timely assistance.

Reverse 911 Using Multicast Session Internet Protocol (Sip) Conferencing Of Voice Over Internet Protocol (Voip) Users

View page
US Patent:
20090154659, Jun 18, 2009
Filed:
Nov 25, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/292719
Inventors:
Drew Morin - Davidsonville MD, US
International Classification:
H04M 11/04
US Classification:
379 48
Abstract:
A reverse 911 system uses voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)/Session Internet Protocol (SIP) conferencing. An emergency alert message may be a text, video, MMS, hyperlink and/or image communicated simultaneously to multiple VoIP users via a SIP conference. Multiple SIP conferences may be cascaded to communicate with a larger number of users in a relevant group of users to be communicated with.

Integrated, Detachable Ear Bud Device For A Wireless Phone

View page
US Patent:
20130244734, Sep 19, 2013
Filed:
Mar 13, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/419180
Inventors:
Weldon H. Latham - Bethesda MD, US
Timothy J. Lorello - Gambrills MD, US
Drew Morin - Davidsonville MD, US
Bruce White - Arnold MD, US
International Classification:
H04W 88/02
US Classification:
4555691
Abstract:
An integrated, detachable ear bud system that is attached to an associated wireless phone. The integrated, detachable ear bud system may be one ear bud, or pair of ear buds, or ear bud or ear buds including a microphone. In certain embodiments an integrated, detachable, attached auditory device is physically connected to its associated wireless phone via an extendable and retractable electrical cord, and integrated into the case of the associated wireless phone, to forcibly keep with the wireless phone even when not in use, preventing misplacement, loss, or even inadvertent separation from the wireless device. The ear buds may connect to a recharge port on the wireless phone, and be charged when the wireless phone is charging. When in its attached home position, the ear-mountable speaker may tuck into a mating cavity. A latch or magnet may assist in attaching the integrated, detachable ear bud to the wireless phone.

Wireless Application Protocol (Wap) Application Location Based Services (Lbs)

View page
US Patent:
20160261982, Sep 8, 2016
Filed:
May 16, 2016
Appl. No.:
15/155926
Inventors:
- ANNAPOLIS MD, US
DREW MORIN - DAVIDSONVILLE MD, US
International Classification:
H04W 4/02
H04L 29/08
Abstract:
A Location Based Service (LBS) enabled Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) application operating in a microbrowser of a mobile device is given the ability to trigger a network initiated LBS request from a WAP application server. The WAP application server (or SMS gateway) acts as a proxy and issues an LBS request to a relevant LBS platform. In response, the WAP application server receives the requested location information from the LBS platform and initiates a WAP session with the mobile device using a WAP PUSH command. In this way, the WAP application running on the mobile device can act on requested and received LBS input from a network LBS platform.

Travel Route

US Patent:
20150292894, Oct 15, 2015
Filed:
Apr 10, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/683633
Inventors:
Mark Goddard - Rancho Santa Margarita CA, US
Gordon John Hines - Kirkland WA, US
Timothy James Lorello - Gambrills MD, US

Assignee:
TELECOMMUNICATION SYSTEMS, INC. - Annapolis MD
International Classification:
G01C 21/34
Abstract:
A route engine can be configured to receive route data that characterizes a request for driving directions to a destination. The route engine can also be configured to determine a plurality of travel routes to the destination and to estimate a predicted travel time for each of the plurality of travel routes to the destination. The estimation can be based on environmental data that characterizes environmental conditions that affect traffic flow along the plurality of travel routes. The route engine can further include determining a likelihood that each predicted travel time for each of the plurality of travel routes is accurate.
