Abstract:
A rotary pump for liquid having a housing, a shaft carrying a motor rotor, a motor stator fixed in the housing and surrounding the rotor to rotate the rotor and shaft about an axis. The shaft is mounted in the pump housing by axially spaced conical bearings, each bearing including a first element fixed on the shaft with a first conical bearing surface concentric with the axis, a coacting second element carried by the housing with a second conical bearing surface concentric with the axis and slidably engaging the first bearing surface and a spring forcing the elements together. This pump includes a wear indicator comprising: a first drive member on the shaft, an imbalance member carried with the second element of a bearing with a second drive member aligned with the first member and movable axially toward the first drive member as the bearing surfaces wear so the first and second drive members engage when the imbalance member moves axially a given distance. A sensor detects vibrations caused by rotation of the imbalance member by the shaft.

Abstract:
A rotary pump for liquid comprising a housing, a shaft carrying a motor rotor, a motor stator fixed in the housing and surrounding the rotary to rotate the rotor and shaft about an axis, where the shaft is mounted in the housing by axially spaced conical bearings each of which includes a first element fixed on the shaft with a first conical bearing surface concentric with the axis and a second journal element carried by the housing with a second conical bearing surface concentric with the axis and slidably engaging the first bearing surface. A biasing element forces the second elements or journal toward each other in an axial direction to compensate for wear between the friction surfaces. A wear indicator comprises a first follower on the housing and movable axially with the second element of the first conical bearing, a second follower on the housing and movable axially with the second element of the second conical bearing with the follower indicator elements spaced from each other a spacing indicative of the total axial movement of the second bearing elements and a view window on the housing for viewing the spacing of the indicator elements.

Abstract:
A rotary pump for pumping liquids includes a motor, a shaft that is driven by the motor, an impeller that is attached to the shaft, a rolling element bearing that surrounds the shaft and a bearing housing for the rolling element bearing. The bearing housing defines a lubricant reservoir in a volume of the bearing housing not occupied by the rolling element bearing. The rotary pump can also include a conduit in communication with the bearing housing and a grease cup fitting in communication with the conduit. The motor can rest on a motor support and the grease cup fitting can be easily accessible by locating the fitting outside of a peripheral side wall of the motor support.

Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a pump system. The pump system has a motor, a pump shaft, a pumping section, a connecting column, and a shaft isolator. The motor drives the pump shaft and has a bottom surface above a desired medium. The pumping section has a top surface that receives the pump shaft and pumps the desired medium to a predetermined instrument. The connecting column surrounds a predetermined portion of the pump shaft and connects the motor support and pumping section together. The shaft isolator is positioned between the connecting column and the pump shaft, and extends from the top surface of the pumping section to a predetermined height above the desired medium and below the bottom surface of the motor. The resulting pumped medium has an acceptable amount of entrained air that will not adversely affect the predetermined instrument.
