Abstract:
A two-stage, permanent-magnet, integral disk-motor centrifugal pump, has a housing having first and second suction ports and first and second discharge ports, the first discharge port being connected to the second suction port. A first impeller is rotatably disposed on a shaft between the first suction port and the first discharge port and a second impeller is placed back-to-back with the first impeller and rotatably disposed on a shaft between the second suction port and the second discharge port, each of the first and second impellers having a back shroud with an array of permanent magnets fixed thereto. A first stator and a second stator are interposed between and adjacent to the first and second impellers, respectively, the rotational speed of the impellers being controlled by invertors acting upon the stators. Provisions are also included for extracting motor heat from the pump.

Abstract:
A combined canned motor-pump operates directly in the process fluid without the need for shaft seals or buffer or lubricating fluids. The pump incorporates an integral gas-separating system that includes gas separating hydraulics and a flow path that returns the gas to the main gas/oil separator. The gas-separating system includes a pump inlet for accepting incoming multiphase flow, at least one blade rotatable about the axis of rotation, an open annulus region for separating gas from liquid in the multiphase flow, at least one radial hole in the shaft for directing separated gas to the axial hole, and a pump outlet for discharging liquid from the pump.

Abstract:
An integral axial-field motor pump, includes a housing assembly having a working fluid inlet, a working fluid discharge, and a stationary shaft mounted therein. A motor stator is mounted in the housing assembly radially surrounding the stationary shaft and having a seal to prevent exposure to the working fluid; and a motor rotor is axially spaced from the stator and fixed to an impeller having a hub and journaled, by a bearing fixed in the hub, on the stationary shaft within the housing assembly. The rotor also has a seal to prevent exposure to the working fluid. The stationary shaft has an axial passageway formed within it; and there is a provision for conducting working fluid from the working fluid discharge, along sealed surfaces of the rotor and the stator, through the axial passageway within the stationary shaft, to the working fluid inlet to extract heat from the rotor and the stator and to cool the bearing. The threaded engagement of the stationary shaft in the blind hole of the pump case provides for jacking action on the rotor to overcome magnetic forces between the rotor and stator encountered during installation and removal of a permanent magnet equipped motor rotor. Cooling is provided for the working fluid extracted from the fluid discharge prior to introducing it to the cooling channels, when pumping hot fluids.

A screw pump, includes a pump case having a fluid inlet, a pumping chamber, and a fluid discharge with at least two intermeshed parallel screw members rotatably mounted therein and in fluid communication with the fluid inlet and the fluid discharge. One synchronous electric drive motor mounted to each screw member provides the driving power to the screws. Electronic controls are provided for sensing the rotary positions of the motors for synchronizing rotation of the screw members. The pump is also capable of pumping multi-phase fluids.

Abstract:
A cavitation resistant impeller for liquid-conveying centrifugal pumps has a plurality of impeller vanes, each vane having, in combination, a leading inlet edge with a root portion extending upstream of its tip portion; a vane thickness that is greater upstream of the impeller throat than the vane thickness downstream of the impeller throat; and an elliptical nose on the leading inlet edge. The invention can be used in straight-vaned impellers or in Francis-type impellers.
