Method And Apparatus For The Control And Monitoring Of Shape Change In Tissue

View page
US Patent:
20040236320, Nov 25, 2004
Filed:
Jan 22, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/762639
Inventors:
Dmitry Protsenko - Costa Mesa CA, US
Brian Wong - Irvine CA, US
Guillermo Aguilar-Mendoza - Corona CA, US
Ki-Hong Ho - San Francisco CA, US
Sergio Diaz - Pamplona, ES
International Classification:
A61B018/04
US Classification:
606/032000
Abstract:
A method of electroforming tissue comprises creating stress in the tissue; and causing a direct current to flow in the tissue to change the stress, strain, or intrinsic mechanical properties including shape of the tissue. Force is mechanically applied to the tissue to create external stresses or material parameters of the tissue are used to create internal stresses in the tissue by causing a current to flow in the tissue. The method further comprises the step of monitoring the stresses in the tissue and controlling the current flowing in the tissue according to the stresses therein by monitoring impedance, the optical properties, the pH, acoustic properties of the tissue, the gas formation in the tissue, the color of the tissue as caused by a chemical dye disposed therein or as caused by electroplating a material thereon.

Patient Adapter For Driveline Cable And Methods

View page
US Patent:
20180311427, Nov 1, 2018
Filed:
Apr 30, 2018
Appl. No.:
15/966869
Inventors:
- St. Paul MN, US
John Mark Di Paola - Livermore CA, US
Dustin Roelle - Mountain House CA, US
Dmitry Protsenko - Vallejo CA, US
International Classification:
A61M 1/12
H01B 7/04
Abstract:
A patient adapter for connecting a driveline cable between an implantable blood pump and a controller. The patient adapter provides a sufficiently large form factor to make connecting ends of a driveline cable easy for patients who lack dexterity or have unclear vision. The patient adapter includes an adapter body that defines a central lumen that extends through an entire length of the adapter body. The central lumen is configured to receive an end of a percutaneous end connector of the driveline cable and an end of a controller end connector of the driveline cable. The patient adapter includes a first mating feature configured to engage a corresponding feature of the percutaneous end connector and a second mating feature configured to engage a corresponding feature of the controller end connector. A thickness of the adapter body is greatest at a position proximate the controller end connector.
