Methods Of Manufacturing Porous Metal Alloy Fuel Cell Components

View page
US Patent:
53125800, May 17, 1994
Filed:
May 12, 1992
Appl. No.:
7/881686
Inventors:
Diane S. Erickson - Chicago IL
Estela T. Ong - Chicago IL
International Classification:
B22F 500
US Classification:
419 2
Abstract:
Porous metal components for high temperature fuel cells which are made by integrating the heretofore employed, separate tape casting and pack cementation processes. Particles of a base metal and a master alloy are suspended in a liquid medium in which a binding agent and a halide activator are dispersed. The suspension is cast into the shape wanted in the component, typically by tape casting; and the cast structure is heated to remove the liquid medium, leaving a flexible, green cast structure commonly referred to as a tape. The green tape is so heated as to: (a) burn out the binder in the tape; (b) form an alloy of the base metal and an alloying metal in the master alloy; and (c) sinter the alloy particles into a porous, coherent metal structure.

Method For Forming Porous Oxide Dispersion Strengthened Carbonate Fuel Cell Anodes With Improved Anode Creep Resistance

View page
US Patent:
49991558, Mar 12, 1991
Filed:
Oct 17, 1989
Appl. No.:
7/422998
Inventors:
Estela T. Ong - Chicago IL
Diane S. Erickson - Chicago IL
Leonard G. Marianowski - Mt. Prospect IL
Assignee:
Electric Power Research Institute, Inc. - Palo Alto CA
International Classification:
B22F 500
US Classification:
419 2
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a method for forming porous oxide dispersion strengthened molten carbonate fuel cell anodes having improved anode creep resistance. The method comprises the steps of forming an alloy powder comprised of a base metal and an alloy metal, forming the alloy into a porous anode structure by sintering, and then placing the porous anode structure under conditions in which the base metal is reduced and the alloy metal is oxidized, thereby internally oxidizing the alloy metal to form oxide particles therein. Alternatively, the method of the present invention can comprise the steps of forming an alloy powder comprised of a base metal and an alloy metal, placing the alloy powder under conditions wherein the powder is oxidized only on its surface, thereby forming oxides of both the base metal and the alloy metal, and forming the oxidized alloy powder into a porous anode structure by simultaneous sintering and internally oxidizing the remaining unoxidized alloy metal by an oxygen exchange reaction between the base metal oxide the internal alloy metal.

Sol-Casting Of Molten Carbonate Fuel Cell Matrices

View page
US Patent:
59834889, Nov 16, 1999
Filed:
Jul 30, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/902991
Inventors:
Diane S. Erickson - Downers Grove IL
Charles R. Bernat - Oak Park IL
Assignee:
M-C Power Corporation - Burr Ridge IL
International Classification:
B23P 1900
US Classification:
29731
Abstract:
A process for manufacture of molten carbonate fuel cell matrices in which an aluminate precursor material and a lithium salt are mixed in an aqueous or organic solvent, resulting in formation of a suspension, the suspension is heated to a temperature less than a boiling of the solvent, resulting in formation of a slurry comprising a lithium aluminate precursor material, at least one casting additive is added to the slurry, the slurry is formed into a desired shape, the desired shape is dried or cured to yield a green molten carbonate fuel cell structure, and the green molten carbonate fuel cell structure is heated after assembly into a molten carbonate fuel cell to the molten carbonate fuel cell operating temperature, resulting in transformation of the lithium aluminate precursor material to lithium aluminate.

Systems And Methods For Identifying A Risk Of Impliedly Overruled Content Based On Citationally Related Content

View page
US Patent:
20190347748, Nov 14, 2019
Filed:
May 14, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/411809
Inventors:
- New York NY, US
Kanika Madan - Toronto, CA
Hector Martinez Alonso - Cambridge, GB
Afsaneh Fazly - Markham, CA
Tonya Custis - Minneapolis MN, US
Isabelle Moulinier - Richfield MN, US
Gayle McElvain - Arlington VA, US
Diane Erickson - Woodbury MN, US
Khaled Ammar - Waterloo, CA
International Classification:
G06Q 50/18
G06F 16/28
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for analyzing citationally related content and identifying, based on the analysis, a risk of impliedly overruled content. Embodiments provide for receiving case law data from a document source, for extracting a case triple that includes a first case overruling or abrogating a second case, and a third case citationally related to the second case. Features may be generated from case triple, such as natural processing language features comparing the language in the various cases of the triple, and feeding the generated features to a main classifier. In embodiments, the main classifier classifies the case triple into a class indicating the risk probability that the second case is impliedly overruled by the first case.
