Filed:
Oct 1, 2010
Appl. No.:
13/499655
Inventors:
Dewaine Kautsch - Jefferson City MO, US
Alain Lussier - St-Francois-Xavier-de-Brompton, CA
Assignee:
CAMOPLAST SOLIDEAL INC. - Sherbrooke QC
International Classification:
B62D 55/08
B62D 55/14
B62D 55/12
US Classification:
305142, 305165, 305124
Abstract:
A track assembly for providing traction to a vehicle, such as an agricultural vehicle, a construction vehicle, or another work vehicle The track assembly is mountable to an axle of the vehicle The track assembly comprises a plurality of wheels comprising a leading idler wheel and a trailing idler wheel spaced apart in a longitudinal direction of the track assembly, an axis of rotation of the axle of the vehicle being located between an axis of rotation of the leading idler wheel and an axis of rotation of the trailing idler wheel in the longitudinal direction of the track assembly, and a driver wheel for rotating when the axle of the vehicle rotates The track assembly also comprises an endless track disposed around the wheels The endless track comprises an inner side facing the wheels and a ground-engaging outer side for engaging the ground The endless track engages the driver wheel such that rotation of the driver wheel imparts motion to the endless track.

Heat Shielded Mid-Roller

View page
US Patent:
62992643, Oct 9, 2001
Filed:
Jan 27, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/238957
Inventors:
Dewaine A. Kautsch - DeKalb IL
Sean C. McGinnis - DeKalb IL
Assignee:
Caterpillar Inc. - Peoria IL
International Classification:
B60B 1700
US Classification:
305137
Abstract:
Endless rubber track laying machines are provided with a pair of track laying assemblies positioned on opposite sides of the work machine. Each track laying assembly includes an endless rubber belt entrained around a drive wheel, an idler wheel, and a plurality of supporting mid-rollers. The present supporting mid-roller includes a heat shield that is positioned between individual roller segments and guide blocks positioned on the inner surface of the endless rubber belt. With the heat shield in this position, heat generated from the guide blocks contacting the individual roller segments is dissipated, thereby increasing the life of the individual mid-roller components.

Suspension System For A Work Machine

View page
US Patent:
61827770, Feb 6, 2001
Filed:
Dec 9, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/208188
Inventors:
Dewaine A. Kautsch - DeKalb IL
Assignee:
Caterpillar Inc. - Peoria IL
International Classification:
B62D 5500
US Classification:
180 948
Abstract:
Existing track laying work machines fail to provide adequate suspension for reducing shock loads transmitted to machine components and the operator. The present suspension system provides suspension members interposed the main frame of the work machine and an elongated beam supported by first and second track roller frames. Cushioning members separate the roller frame from the elongated beam and drive wheel hub, to provide further isolation from shock and torsional movement of the roller frame.

Track Roller Frame With Inside Reaction Arm

View page
US Patent:
58554211, Jan 5, 1999
Filed:
Dec 11, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/763489
Inventors:
Dewaine A. Kautsch - Dekalb IL
Assignee:
Caterpillar Inc. - Peoria IL
International Classification:
B62D 5510
US Classification:
305136
Abstract:
Present reaction arms for use with an endless belt fail to adequately disperse the debris from the drive wheel and the endless belt. The present reaction arm includes a cushioning member interposed a first end and an outer surface of a center portion of a hub assembly. And, the reaction arm includes a second end being attached to a chassis of a work machine. The reaction arm is axially positioned within a pair of sides of an endless belt and is generally centered along an axis defined by the pair of sides.

Slotted Drive Wheel For Endless Ground Engaging Belted Tracks

View page
US Patent:
57695121, Jun 23, 1998
Filed:
Sep 20, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/718295
Inventors:
Dewaine A. Kautsch - Dekalb IL
Assignee:
Caterpillar Inc. - Peoria IL
International Classification:
B62D 5512
US Classification:
305199
Abstract:
Present drive wheels for use with an endless belted track fail to adequately disperse the debris at the interface between the drive wheel and the endless belted track. The present drive wheel includes a mounting hub having a plurality of cantilevered drive members. An opened ended slot is provided between each of the plurality of driving members to provide an effective escape path for debris.

Track System For Traction Of A Vehicle

View page
US Patent:
20230029975, Feb 2, 2023
Filed:
Dec 7, 2020
Appl. No.:
17/782905
Inventors:
- Magog, CA
Jeremi Bourdeau - Sherbrooke, CA
Dewaine Kautsch - Jefferson City MO, US
International Classification:
B62D 55/30
B62D 55/24
Abstract:
A track system for traction of a vehicle (e.g., an agricultural vehicle) in which the track system is designed to better perform when the vehicle is roading, travelling on a side hill or other inclined surface, is braking or undergoing other rim pull events, and/or in other situations, such as by enhancing load distribution (e.g., with wheels that can laterally oscillate and be wider) and/or track tensioning (e.g., with different tensioning stages).

Tracked Vehicle With Adjustable Track Spacing

View page
US Patent:
20210291916, Sep 23, 2021
Filed:
Feb 8, 2017
Appl. No.:
16/076537
Inventors:
Dewaine KAUTSCH - Jefferson City MO, US
Jonathan LAUZIER - Sherbrooke, CA
Michel MESLAURIERS - Sherbrooke, CA
- MAGOG, CA
International Classification:
B62D 55/065
B62D 21/14
B62D 55/084
Abstract:
Track systems for traction of a vehicle in which a spacing of laterally-adjacent ones of the track systems in a widthwise direction of the vehicle is adjustable. This may facilitate use of the vehicle in different conditions (e.g., in different field configurations, such as in different configurations of row crops, where the vehicle is an agricultural vehicle). For instance, the spacing of the laterally-adjacent ones of the track systems may be adjustable while the laterally-adjacent ones of the track systems are connected to a power train of the vehicle and/or without requiring use of additional parts (e.g. spacers).
