Hybrid Butterfly Fluid Control Valve

View page
US Patent:
20050224743, Oct 13, 2005
Filed:
Apr 7, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/819397
Inventors:
Delton Boardman - Acton CA, US
Lawrence Parker - Castaic CA, US
International Classification:
F16K001/22
US Classification:
251308000
Abstract:
A flow control valve system has a housing that defines a flow path, a throttle element disposed in the flow path, and a linkage assembly coupled to the throttle element and oriented substantially outside the flow path. With such an orientation, the linkage assembly has minimal effect on a pressure gradient or pressure drop within the flow control valve system. As such, the linkage assembly allows the flow control valve system to deliver fluid from a fluid input channel to a fluid output channel at a relatively large volume flow rate.

Actuator With Zero Point Initialization

US Patent:
20090260461, Oct 22, 2009
Filed:
Apr 16, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/103949
Inventors:
Lawrence Edward Parker - Castaic CA, US
Delton Boardman - Acton CA, US
Assignee:
HR TEXTRON INC. - Santa Clarita CA
International Classification:
F16H 27/02
G06F 19/00
US Classification:
74 8923, 700302, 700282, 700275
Abstract:
The actuator has a shaft having a starting point resistance feature, and a low resistance portion. The actuator has a motor configured to rotate the shaft, the motor outputting a current feedback signal to indicate current exiting the motor. The actuator has a interference portion in proximity to the shaft, the interference portion configured to facilitate a resistance to shaft rotation when the shaft rotates, the resistance to shaft rotation causing a magnitude of the current signal to be greater when the starting point resistance feature passes in front of the interference portion than when the low resistance portion passes in front of the interference portion.

Method And Apparatus For Controlling Fluid Flow Rate Characteristics Of A Valve Assembly

US Patent:
20090277519, Nov 12, 2009
Filed:
May 6, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/115996
Inventors:
Lawrence Edward Parker - Castaic CA, US
Delton Boardman - Acton CA, US
Robert Deller - Valencia CA, US
Assignee:
HR TEXTRON, INC. - Santa Clarita CA
International Classification:
F16K 31/06
F16K 31/02
G06F 9/44
US Classification:
13762565, 25112911, 717106
Abstract:
A valve assembly controller is configured with a table having a set of command signal values representing commanded positions of a valve element to obtain a desired flow rates through a fluid pathway. The table also includes a set of empirically measured drive signal values representing the actual positions of the valve element required to obtain the desired flow rates through the fluid pathway. During operation, in order to obtain a desired flow rate through the fluid pathway, the controller intercepts a command signal from a command signal source and provides the valve assembly with a corresponding drive signal based upon the table values. The controller therefore controls the positioning of the valve element such that the valve element is opened to a position either greater or less than the commanded position in order to provide the desired flow through the fluid pathway.
