Toy Vehicle Trackway Set Having Vehicle Snatching Toy Figure

View page
US Patent:
6358112, Mar 19, 2002
Filed:
Aug 3, 1999
Appl. No.:
09/366178
Inventors:
Gerard L. Lambert - Torrance CA
Gary Swisher - Rolling Hills Estates CA
David Sheltman - Irvine CA
Assignee:
Mattel, Inc. - El Segundo
International Classification:
A63H 2900
US Classification:
446429, 446169, 446444, 238 10 C, 238 10 R
Abstract:
A toy vehicle trackway set includes a launcher and an entrance track coupled to a stunt loop which in turn supports an exit track. Freely rolling toy vehicles are launched from the toy vehicle launcher to traverse the stunt loop and exit via the exit track. A toy vehicle trap configured to generally resemble a fanciful monster or alien is supported upon the stunt loop and includes a bistable pivotally secured head. The head is pivotable between a first stable position in which toy vehicles are able to avoid the trap and traverse the loop and a second capture position in which toy vehicles are diverted from the track loop into the head of the alien or monster. The bistable support of the pivotal head causes the head to move from its non capture position to a capture position when a sufficient amount of energy has been transferred from a toy vehicle traversing the stunt loop to the trap mechanism.

Staging Mechanism For Toy Vehicle Playset

US Patent:
6676480, Jan 13, 2004
Filed:
May 31, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/159609
Inventors:
David A. Sheltman - Long Beach CA
Assignee:
Mattel, Inc. - El Segundo CA
International Classification:
A63H 2900
US Classification:
446429, 446444, 446431
Abstract:
A continuous loop toy vehicle trackset supports a booster and a plurality of toy vehicles. The trackset is formed of spaced apart track rails forming a gap therebetween. The toy vehicles are open wheeled and able to roll upon the track rails in either a right side up or inverted configuration. In the inverted configuration, the top surface of the toy vehicle is able to extend into the gap between the track rails. A staging lane facilitates introduction of additional toy vehicles to the trackset.

Gravity Launcher And Clamp For Trackset

View page
US Patent:
20050191938, Sep 1, 2005
Filed:
Jan 21, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/041030
Inventors:
David Sheltman - Irvine CA, US
Joe Pohlman - Westchester CA, US
Michael Finizza - Los Angeles CA, US
Mark Mayer - Woodland Hills CA, US
Mike Andrews - Los Angeles CA, US
Nelson Tam - Torrance CA, US
International Classification:
A63H029/00
US Classification:
446429000
Abstract:
A toy vehicle launcher and supporting clamp are used in providing a gravity driven toy vehicle trackset. The clamp utilizes a ratcheting attachment member which facilitates the rapid sizing or adjustment for size for attachment to a table edge or the like. The launcher and clamp further provides a toy vehicle launcher having a trigger release for gravity driven launch of a toy vehicle down a coupled track segment. The angle of the toy vehicle launcher is adjustable to facilitate changes in launch angle and thereby changes in the amount of energy imparted to the toy vehicle.

Scaffold Support For Toy Vehicle Trackset

View page
US Patent:
20050191939, Sep 1, 2005
Filed:
Jan 21, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/041072
Inventors:
David Sheltman - Irvine CA, US
Joe Pohlman - Westchester CA, US
Michael Finizza - Los Angeles CA, US
Mark Mayer - Woodland Hills CA, US
Mike Andrews - Los Angeles CA, US
Nelson Tam - Torrance CA, US
International Classification:
A63H029/00
US Classification:
446429000
Abstract:
A scaffold support system for toy vehicle tracksets utilizes a plurality of base members which in turn support a plurality of generally cylindrical rod elements. The rod elements are elongated and generally circular in cross-section. A plurality of joint members are utilized in securing combinations of the rod members together to form a scaffold structure. In turn, a further plurality of joint members are utilized in securing the track segments to the various rods found in the scaffold structure. The joints are movable and rotatable upon the supporting rods to provide substantial variation of track segment positioning and contour within the trackset. For the most part, each joint utilized in securing the track segments and the combinations of scaffold supporting rods within the trackset is capable of securely locking in a selected position.
