Burn Pot For Particulate Combustors

View page
US Patent:
52974936, Mar 29, 1994
Filed:
Mar 16, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/033508
Inventors:
David L. Nuesmeyer - Spokane WA
Gary W. Brondt - Cheney WA
International Classification:
F23B 700
US Classification:
110233
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a burn pot for particulate combustors, particularly of the type used for burning particulate fuel such as pellets. The burn pot includes a burn pot body surrounded by an air plenum in which air is delivered and exhausted through openings in side, front, and bottom walls of the burn pot body. A rearwardly inclined back wall is moved by a driver to reciprocate forwardly and rearwardly toward and away from the front wall. The back wall is inclined opposite to the front wall in order, upon reciprocating motion, to engage and move the particulate material toward the front wall, bunching it for more efficient combustion, clearing the openings in the burn pot walls, and forcing ash up the front wall and over the upper ash discharge edge thereof. The burn pot and back wall are removably mounted within the firebox to facilitate removal for cleaning, maintenance or replacement.

Feed For Particulate Burners

US Patent:
53578775, Oct 25, 1994
Filed:
Mar 16, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/031962
Inventors:
David L. Nuesmeyer - Spokane WA
Gary W. Brondt - Cheney WA
International Classification:
F23K 310
US Classification:
110108
Abstract:
A particulate delivery system is disclosed for particulate burners in which a hopper is provided for supplying particulate fuel to a hopper discharge opening. A rotating turntable is provided below the hopper discharge opening and includes at least one and preferably a plurality of flexible resilient vanes rotating with the turntable. A wall partially encircles the vanes and is closed on its bottom end by the upper surface of the turntable. The wall includes a lateral discharge opening that facilitates controlled discharge of the particulate fuel over the peripheral edge of the turntable. A chute receives the discharged particulate material, and drops it into a burn pot of the associated particulate burner.

Pelletized Fuel Burning Heater

US Patent:
49228897, May 8, 1990
Filed:
Sep 29, 1987
Appl. No.:
7/102481
Inventors:
David Nuesmeyer - Spokane WA
Gary Brondt - Cheney WA
Assignee:
Thermic, Inc. - Spokane WA
International Classification:
F24B 1304
F24B 502
US Classification:
126 73
Abstract:
A heater for burning combustible pelletized fuel. The pelletized fuel is delivered at a controllable rate to a double-walled burn pot in an enclosed combustion chamber. Combustion air is injected into the combustion chamber at a pressure higher than the ambient air pressure surrounding the heater. Combustion air is injected between the walls of the burn pot through ports in the inner wall into the fuel at or slightly below the top of the fuel level. Additional combustion air is injected approximately horizontally across the top of the burn pot through an injection air manifold. Crossfire injection air is injected approximately vertically about the periphery of the burn pot, confining fumes and exhaust air directly above the burn pot. Heated exhaust gasses rise to the top of the combustion chamber and are drawn from the combustion chamber through a heat exchange unit surrounding the combustion chamber. The exhaust gasses are drawn from the combustion chamber by suction created by and extraction air mechanism.
