Filed:
Jan 22, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/692526
Inventors:
David J. Lingrey - San Antonio TX, US
Kevin L. Eicher - Seguin TX, US
Geethakrishnan Vasudevan - San Antonio TX, US
David John Sayler - Portland OR, US
Patrick J. Bush - San Antonio TX, US
Eduardo J. Guerrero - San Antonio TX, US
Assignee:
Friedrich Air Conditioning Co., Ltd. - San Antonio TX
International Classification:
F25D 23/12
F25D 19/00
US Classification:
62298
Abstract:
A room air conditioner and/or heat pump is shown with a main control and a user interface. The user interface is mounted on a user interface mount attached to the front of a main unit, but behind the bezel. The user interface mount is used to (a) insert or remove the main unit, (b) secure and protect wiring cables, (c) mount the user interface thereon, (d) direct a filter into position, (e) provide a slot for a fresh air slide, and (f) direct a bezel into position. A main control housing allows access there through to a main control circuit board, but prevents moisture from dripping on the main control circuit board. A dual filter element is located behind a double hinged door. Channels and flanges direct and secure the bezel into position.

Appl. No.:
12/692102
Inventors:
David J. Lingrey - San Antonio TX, US
Kevin L. Eicher - Seguin TX, US
Geethakrishnan Vasudevan - San Antonio TX, US
David John Sayler - Portland OR, US
Assignee:
Friedrich Air Conditioning Co., a division of U.S. Natural Resources, Inc. - San Antonio TX
International Classification:
F25D 17/06
F25B 13/00
F25B 29/00
G05B 15/00
F25D 17/04
F28D 15/00
US Classification:
62 89, 623246, 165 64, 700275, 62408, 16510434
Abstract:
A room air conditioner and/or heat pump is shown having a compressor, indoor coil, accumulator, expansion device and reversing valve for changing between a cooling cycle and a heating cycle. Intake louvers direct return air over the entire indoor coil for maximum heat transfer. Discharge louvers are curved upward to prevent short cycling while still being totally adjustable, up and down, right and left. Adjustment posts are anchored to a clip and are adjustable for right or left discharge of air and up or down discharge. Single handles control both the right or left discharge through a rear set of louvers and up or down discharge through a front set of louvers. A no circulation area prevents short cycling and curved edges prevent turbulence in air flow through louvers.

US Patent:
20110125328, May 26, 2011
Filed:
Apr 19, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/762841
Inventors:
David J. Lingrey - San Antonio TX, US
Kevin L. Eicher - Seguin TX, US
George Cagle - San Antonio TX, US
Assignee:
Friedrich Air Conditioning Co., a division of U.S. Natural Resources, Inc. - San Antonio TX
International Classification:
G05B 15/00
US Classification:
700276
Abstract:
A universal control system is provided for a room air conditioner or heat pump that has a number of sensor inputs. An electronic control system with a microcontroller and microcomputer are used to provide a large number of operations that can be performed by (1) manufacturer, (2) end users and (3) maintenance personnel. The manufacturer can load different versions of a software program to match the unit. The end user can program in a large number of different conditions or schedules the end user finds desirable, plus the end user is advised of maintenance requirements or faults. The maintenance personnel may perform diagnostics, determine fault history, upload improved or replacement software, as well as the numerous maintenance functions normally performed by maintenance personnel.
