String Command Parser For Message Based Systems

View page
US Patent:
6397263, May 28, 2002
Filed:
Nov 3, 1993
Appl. No.:
08/148079
Inventors:
Steven Marshall Hancock - Boca Raton FL
David William Killian - Boca Raton FL
Bradley Dale Noe - Boca Raton FL
Assignee:
International Business Machines Corporation - Armonk NY
International Classification:
G06F 954
US Classification:
709322
Abstract:
A logical device that is coupled to a computer can be controlled using string commands. The logical device requires flags and a data structure to operate properly. A string command with tokens for operating a specific logical device is provided. A linked list of the tokens is created. A command table for the specified logical device is found. The command table contains possible commands for the logical device, which commands are able to provide the required flags and data structure for the logical device. Each command in the command table contains key words or tokens or multiword tokens. The command table tokens are parsed, one at a time, against the command string tokens. If no match between the command table token and a command string token occurs, then the next command table token is parsed against the command string tokens. If a match between a command table token and a command string token occurs, then the flag that is associated with the command string token is provided and data from either the command string token or the command table token is inserted into the data structure in its proper place.

User Interface For Multi-Device Control

Feb 23, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/783511
Inventors:
David Killian - Lake Worth FL, US
Glenn Harter - Wellington FL, US
Justin Flores - West Palm Beach FL, US
Paul Krzyzanowski - Fanwood NJ, US
Assignee:
OpenPeak Inc. - Boca Raton FL
International Classification:
G06F 3/00
US Classification:
715740, 715733, 715771, 715970, 700 9, 709208, 709218, 340 31
Abstract:
A control server, or similar central processor, manages the distribution of data (including audio and video), voice, and control signals among a plurality of system components connected via a wired and/or wireless communications network. The system components include audio/visual components (such as, televisions, monitors, PDAs, notepads, notebooks, MP3, portable stereo, etc. ) as well as household appliances (such as, lighting, ovens, alarm clocks, etc. ). A portable controller allows a user to access and control the system components from any location within a controlled residential and/or non-residential environment, including its surrounding areas. The portable controller includes a user and management interface that contains customized control screens for the system components. The control screens are stored in a hierarchical architecture that is searchable by region or component type.

System And Method For State Transition Of A Load Controller Device

View page
US Patent:
20120023214, Jan 26, 2012
Filed:
Jul 7, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/178306
Inventors:
David S. Leeds - Lake Worth FL, US
Christopher C. Jones - San Francisco CA, US
David W. Killian - Lake Worth FL, US
Joshua A. Bass - Parkland FL, US
Assignee:
OPENPEAK INC. - Boca Raton FL
International Classification:
G06F 15/173
US Classification:
709223
Abstract:
A method of facilitating wireless communications between a load controller device and a network component is described. The method can include the step of transitioning the load controller device from a peer-to-peer state in which the load controller device can receive initialization information to a provisioned state in which the load controller device connects to the network component using the initialization information. If there is a disruption in the connection between the load controller device and the network component in the provisioned state, the load controller device can be forced back to the peer-to-peer state from the provisioned state to enable the load controller device to receive new initialization information for reestablishment of the connection between the load controller device and the network component or for establishment of another connection between the load controller device and a different network component.

System And Method For Displaying Multiple Exclusive Video Streams On One Monitor

View page
US Patent:
20120194656, Aug 2, 2012
Filed:
Jan 27, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/015269
Inventors:
DAVID KILLIAN - LAKE WORTH FL, US
Assignee:
OPENPEAK, INC. - BOCA RATON FL
International Classification:
H04N 13/04
A63F 9/24
H04N 7/18
US Classification:
348 56, 348 61, 463 31, 348E1304
Abstract:
A video display system and method that allows two different users to view different video streams on the same monitor without being able to see the other user's video stream. Frames of each video stream are rendered on the monitor. Each user views the monitor using a viewing device that allows the user to see his/her respective video stream and blocks the user from seeing frames associated with the other video stream.

Client Device And Method For Finding And Binding To A Home Connection

View page
US Patent:
20120198083, Aug 2, 2012
Filed:
Jan 27, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/015248
Inventors:
DAVID KILLIAN - LAKE WORTH FL, US
Assignee:
OPENPEAK, INC. - BOCA RATON FL
International Classification:
G06F 15/16
US Classification:
709228
Abstract:
In an embodiment, a client device scans to detect available remote connections using a network protocol. Upon detecting one or more available remote connections, the client device presents or transmits client credentials that are unique to the client device to the remote connections or devices until the client device finds a remote connection that accepts the credentials. The remote connection that accepts the credentials is stored as the home connection by client device, and the client device connects to the home connection. Once the home connection is set, the client device will no longer seek other connections, and will only attempt to re-connect with the home connection if the connection is lost.

Method And Apparatus For Synchronizing Streaming And Non-Streaming Multimedia Devices By Controlling The Play Speed Of The Non-Streaming Device In Response To A Synchronization Signal

View page
US Patent:
56197330, Apr 8, 1997
Filed:
Nov 10, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/337064
Inventors:
Bradley D. Noe - Boca Raton FL
William W. Lawton - Boca Raton FL
Michael J. Koval - Boca Raton FL
David W. Killian - Delray Beach FL
Assignee:
International Business Machines Corporation - Armonk NY
International Classification:
G06F 1300
US Classification:
395881
Abstract:
Disclosed are apparatus and methods for synchronized presentation of analog and digital data by applying a common synchronization scheme to both types of data. Digital data is "streamed" by transferring the data in blocks from a source to a series of memory buffers, where it accumulates for subsequent transfer to an output device driver. The control module responsible for data streaming periodically reports a temporal location within the presentation represented by the data. A supervisory module designates one of the control modules a "master", and periodically compares the values reported by the various other control modules against that reported by the master. If a comparison exceeds a threshold tolerance value associated with each control module, a sync pulse is delivered to that control module, causing it to correct the synchronization mismatch. This approach is applied to analog sources through the use of control modules that behave in a manner consistent with the digital control modules, but which are capable of directing the operation of analog devices and re-establishing their synchronization with other data sources despite limited modes of device control. Specifically, the control modules that handle analog information also periodically report a presentation location based solely on temporal information, react to sync pulses by altering the playback rate of the analog devices they control within user-tolerable limits, and can act as master control modules.
