Jan 20, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/488654
Inventors:
David H. Curtis - Redding CT, 06896
Michael R. Latronica - Redding CT, 06896
John J. Hamilton - Brewster NY
Assignee:
David H. Curtis - Redding CT
Michael R. Latronica - Redding CT
International Classification:
A01M 120
US Classification:
431321, 43131, 43121
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a conformable termite bait container capable of being located either against a first substantially planar surface or against a corner defined by the intersection of a second and a third substantially planar surface. The conformable termite bait container preferably comprises a housing which includes a back wall, front wall and side structure operatively connected between the front and back walls. The back wall, front wall and side structure form an interior cavity therebetween capable of storing termite bait. A plurality of openings are located on the housing to allow termites to access the bait locatable therewithin. A first structurally-weakened area is located along the longitudinal length of the back wall, figuratively dividing the back wall into a first back portion and a second back portion. A second and a third structurally-weakened area are located along the longitudinal length of the front wall, the second structurally-weakened area being offset from the third structurally-weakened area a predetermined distance and defining a removably-detachable front wall section. In use, the back wall is capable of being located against the first substantially planar surface.

US Classification:
415119, 417312, 181225
Abstract:
An air impeller with both sound attenuation and vibration isolation means in a compact assembly. Three muffler chambers are provided preceding the inlet to the impeller each with sound absorbing foam material and vibration isolators are provided at both inlet and discharge sides of the impeller.

Method And Apparatus For Tracking Vermin

View page
US Patent:
7802397, Sep 28, 2010
Filed:
Oct 12, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/963127
Inventors:
Henry Gideon Emanuel - Redding CT, US
David Curtis - Redding CT, US
Assignee:
Rodotrac, Inc. - Redding CT
International Classification:
A01M 1/20
US Classification:
43131
Abstract:
A method for tracking vermin includes causing the vermin to be covered in a non-toxic fluorescent substance which will leave a trail as the rodent enters/exits the human habitation, then examining the habitation with an ultraviolet light to determine the location of the entry/exit point used by the vermin. The fluorescent substance is preferably invisible without the aid of an ultraviolet light. It is also non-toxic to humans as well as animals and is relatively inexpensive. The apparatus for applying the ultraviolet substance is preferably a “bait station” within which an attractive substance is placed and surrounded by the fluorescent substance.

Device And Method For Mounting Electric Motor Stators

View page
US Patent:
7859153, Dec 28, 2010
Filed:
Oct 27, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/259180
Inventors:
Robert A. Hoyt - Bristol CT, US
David A. Curtis - Torrington CT, US
Assignee:
The Bergquist Torrington Company - Torrington CT
International Classification:
H02K 5/00
H02K 15/04
US Classification:
310 89, 3102541, 29596
Abstract:
A motor stator mounting device includes a plastic motor housing having a cylindrical housing section for receiving the stator. Longitudinal ribs along an inside surface of the housing section are inclined to converge gradually in a distal direction, thus tending to center a stator inserted distally into the housing section. An annular stator retaining member includes a plurality of distally extending centering features. Outside surfaces of the centering features interact with an interior surface of the housing section to center the retaining member as it is inserted distally. Inside surfaces of the centering features interact with a proximal region of a previously inserted stator, such that distal insertion of the retaining member both axially positions and radially centers the stator relative to the cylindrical housing. The retaining member is secured to the housing with a series of sonic welds to positionally fix the stator inside the housing.

Muffler For Impeller With Rearwardly Curved Blades

View page
US Patent:
20050074326, Apr 7, 2005
Filed:
Sep 28, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/952890
Inventors:
David Curtis - Torrington CT, US
Assignee:
Torrington Research Company - Torrington CT
International Classification:
F01D005/10
US Classification:
415119000
Abstract:
A high speed centrifugal air impeller assembly with rearwardly curved blades has it impeller backplate directly cooperating with an adjacent housing wall portion to provide a narrow annular sound attenuating passageway from an impeller chamber to a motor and discharge chamber.

Low Part Count Blower-Motor Assembly In Common Housing

View page
US Patent:
20050074346, Apr 7, 2005
Filed:
Sep 24, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/949260
Inventors:
Robert Hoyt - Bristol CT, US
David Curtis - Torrington CT, US
Russel Marvin - Goshen CT, US
International Classification:
F04B009/00
F04B035/00
US Classification:
417423140, 417423700, 417423300
Abstract:
A low part count blower-motor assembly in a two-part housing which defines fluid inlet and discharge openings for the blower but which is otherwise sealed when assembled. An integrated tubular stator subassembly is fixedly attached to one of the housing parts and projects axially toward the fluid inlet opening. An integrated motor rotor subassembly is also disposed within the housing for rotation about the stator subassembly in coaxial relationship therewith, a part of the rotor subassembly being disposed axially between the stator and the inlet opening in spaced relationship with the opening. A shaft is journaled in the central opening of the tubular stator subassembly and projects axially there from toward the inlet opening and a fluid impeller mounted on the projecting end portion of the shaft receives fluid from the inlet opening. The impeller is also fixedly attached to the part of the rotor which resides between the stator and inlet opening.

Electronically Commutated Motor Control Retention Apparatus

View page
US Patent:
20090108685, Apr 30, 2009
Filed:
Oct 24, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/257974
Inventors:
David A. Curtis - Torrington CT, US
International Classification:
H02K 15/14
US Classification:
310 42, 29596
Abstract:
An electric motor assembly includes a motor housing having a main body portion with a central plane bisecting the main body portion into an upper portion and a lower portion. The motor housing further includes a first printed circuit board support structure having a plurality of slots and a second printed circuit board support structure having a top surface that is orientationally above at least a portion of the plurality of slots. The motor assembly further includes a printed circuit board having tabs which are configured and arranged to operably coordinate with the plurality of slots to thereby removably retain the printed circuit board at the motor housing and in contact with the top surface of the second printed circuit board support structure.

Conformable Termite Bait Container For Walls And Corners

View page
US Patent:
6233865, May 22, 2001
Filed:
Sep 1, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/387958
Inventors:
David H. Curtis - Redding CT
Michael R. Latronica - Redding CT
International Classification:
A01M 120
US Classification:
43131
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a conformable termite bait container capable of being located either against a first substantially planar surface or against a corner defined by the intersection of a second and a third substantially planar surfaces. In a preferred embodiment, the conformable termite bait container comprises a housing having a front wall, a back wall and side walls operatively connected between the front wall and the back wall, where the front, back and side walls form an interior cavity capable of storing insect bait. A plurality of openings are located on the housing to allow termites to enter and exit the housing and access the insect bait located therewithin. The back wall of the housing is capable of being located against the first substantially planar surface, and in the alternative, the back wall and front wall are capable of being bent substantially in the shape of the corner to allow a first and a second portion of the back wall to be located against the second and the third substantially planar surfaces, respectively, defining the corner. The conformable termite bait container preferably further comprises a back hinge located on the back wall to facilitate the bending of the back wall, and a front hinge located on the front wall to facilitate the bending of the front wall.
