Insulated Transition Spool Apparatus

View page
US Patent:
20040251121, Dec 16, 2004
Filed:
Jun 12, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/461257
Inventors:
David Bosi - Napa CA, US
David Reeves - Orinda CA, US
Assignee:
Chevron U.S.A. Inc.
International Classification:
C10B001/00
B01D003/14
US Classification:
202/242000, 202/254000, 202/269000
Abstract:
An insulated transition spool apparatus for mounting unheading devices to pressure vessels, such as coker vessels, and enabling repetitive operation thereof is disclosed. The apparatus comprises an outer housing, an inner housing that encloses an insulating space between the inner and outer housing, a side feed entry aperture in each housing and a spool adapter flange to facilitate attachment of the spool to the vessel.

Pressure Relief In High Pressure Processing System

View page
US Patent:
20120103866, May 3, 2012
Filed:
Nov 1, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/917284
Inventors:
Goutam Biswas - Danville CA, US
Darush Farshid - Larkspur CA, US
Lucy Wu - Albany CA, US
James Knight - Gautier MS, US
David Bosi - Napa CA, US
Michael K. Porter - Cypress TX, US
International Classification:
C10G 65/10
C10G 19/00
B01J 8/00
US Classification:
208 49, 422187, 196 46
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides a system and method for responding to an unintended increase in pressure within a high pressure processing system. The system and method of the present disclosure provides a pressure relief system that releases pressure reliably even if the material under pressure is of mixed phase. In addition, the system and method for releasing pressure avoids the need for complex subsystems to contain and process materials that escape the system during the pressure release process.

Method For Safely And Quickly Shutting Down And Cleaning A Hydroprocessing Reactor Of Spent Catalyst Via A Water Flooding Technique

View page
US Patent:
20160346815, Dec 1, 2016
Filed:
May 27, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/723130
Inventors:
- San Ramon CA, US
Steven Alden Souers - Ocean Springs MS, US
Douglas Gayle McDaniel - Moss Point MS, US
David Lawrence Cooke - San Rafael CA, US
David Michael Bosi - Napa CA, US
International Classification:
B08B 9/08
B08B 5/04
B01J 38/10
Abstract:
Processes for shutting down a hydroprocessing reactor and for removing catalyst from the reactor may comprise shutting off hydrocarbon feed to the reactor, stripping hydrocarbons from the catalyst, cooling the reactor to a first threshold reactor temperature, purging the reactor with Ngas, introducing water into the reactor, and dumping the catalyst from the reactor, wherein the first threshold reactor temperature may be substantially greater than 200 F. In an embodiment, the water may be introduced into the reactor via a quench gas distribution system when the reactor is at a second threshold reactor temperature not greater than 200 F. to cool the reactor to a third threshold reactor temperature not greater than 120 F.
