Remote Controlling

View page
US Patent:
6696972, Feb 24, 2004
Filed:
Dec 24, 1998
Appl. No.:
09/220630
Inventors:
Darryl J. Bryans - Natick MA
Assignee:
Bose Corporation - Framingham MA
International Classification:
G08C 1900
US Classification:
34082572, 34082569, 34082522, 34082525, 348180, 348734, 368 47, 368 55
Abstract:
A portable remote control controls a target electronic device. The portable remote control includes a data receiver having an input port for receiving a variable parameter value of a target device, a real time clock for keeping the time of day, a wireless signal transmitter for transmitting the parameter values and the time of day.

Lighting Control Subsystem For Use In System Architecture For Automated Building

View page
US Patent:
62977245, Oct 2, 2001
Filed:
Mar 7, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/613828
Inventors:
Darryl J. Bryans - Washington DC
Lance B. Jump - Gaithersburg MD
Assignee:
The Whitaker Corporation - Wilmington DE
International Classification:
G06F 1546
US Classification:
340 351
Abstract:
An electrical power control system is adapted for controlling power and lighting in a building. Switch controls have either relays or triacs, controlled by microprocessors, to switch power on electrical branch circuits. An interface device 122 communicates with the switches 124,126, arranged in a multidrop configuration, with variable length data packets over serial branch circuits or data buses 142. In addition to being controlled by the interface device 122, the switch controls also have local switch actuators. The actuation of the local switch controls can be used by the interface device 122 as a control inputs to initiate other actions. Adaptive polling of switch controls is used to minimize system response time, and both transmit and receive signals are carried between the switch controls and the interface device 122 at different times on the same twisted pair wires. The interface device 122 can also communicate with a home automation system controller.

Triac Drive For Lighting And For Inductive Load Control

View page
US Patent:
54771110, Dec 19, 1995
Filed:
Mar 28, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/218964
Inventors:
Lee W. Steely - Mohnton PA
Darryl J. Bryans - Washington DC
Lance B. Jump - Gaithersburg MD
Assignee:
The Whitaker Corporation - Wilmington DE
International Classification:
H05B 3702
US Classification:
315194
Abstract:
A dimmer for use in lighting control in which a triac control circuit in included which allows for control of both incandescent and low voltage lighting systems at low and high intensities 142,144. The triac control circuit includes a microcontroller 130 which alters the duration of the gate triggering pulse for the triac 134 based upon the desired intensity level of the load. This dimmer is used in a lighting control system and the dimmer is responsive to a system controller 2 as well as to momentary switch inputs which are made directly to the dimmer. The triac control circuit can also be used with other inductive loads.

Multimedia Communication Encoding System

View page
US Patent:
20200220915, Jul 9, 2020
Filed:
Jan 9, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/243165
Inventors:
- Framingham MA, US
Marco Maurizio Panzanella - Northbridge MA, US
Darryl John Bryans - Natick MA, US
International Classification:
H04L 29/06
G06F 13/20
Abstract:
Various implementations include devices and approaches for managing multimedia communications. In one aspect, a computer-implemented method of controlling a device connection includes: receiving audio data and video data from an input device connected with a peripheral bus input port; converting the audio data for transmission over an audio over internet protocol (IP) connection or a balun connection and converting the video data for transmission over a video over internet protocol (IP) connection or the balun connection; and transmitting the converted audio data and the converted video data for decoding and output to at least one output device via a multimedia audiovisual interface output port, where the peripheral bus input port is configured to support bidirectional audio and bidirectional video exchange with the input device and bidirectional exchange of IP-based control signals or balun-based control signals with the input device.

Audio Network Interfacing

View page
US Patent:
20180217805, Aug 2, 2018
Filed:
Feb 2, 2018
Appl. No.:
15/887616
Inventors:
- Framingham MA, US
Darryl J. Bryans - Natick MA, US
Marco Panzanella - Northbridge MA, US
Daniel T. Lynch - Winter Haven FL, US
Benjamin Lippitt - Worcester MA, US
International Classification:
G06F 3/16
H04R 1/04
Abstract:
Audio network interface devices that are configured to be used with different types of microphones, and analog or digital audio devices. There is a housing that carries at least one set of electrical connectors adapted to be electrically connected to a microphone or audio device. The microphone connector including at least one general purpose input, at least two general purpose outputs and DC power. There is a first network connector that is adapted to provide connection to a data network, and a second network connector that is adapted to provide connection to a different electronic device. A microphone phantom power source is configured to provide phantom power to a microphone that is connected to a set of electrical connectors. A processing system is configured to cause the conversion of input and output signals from/to a microphone or other audio device that is connected to a set of electrical connectors, to/from digital output signals that are provided to the first network connector. An internal power supply is configured to derive power from the data network connected via the first network connector, and provide derived power to the microphone phantom power source, DC power to a microphone connector, and the processing system.
