US Classification:
318255, 318265, 318286, 160133, 160309, 160310
Abstract:
The present invention advantageously provides methods for manually and/or remotely controlling a motorized roller shade that includes a shade attached to a shade tube, a DC gear motor disposed within the shade tube and a microcontroller. One method includes detecting a manual movement of the shade using a sensor, determining a displacement associated with the manual movement, and, if the displacement is less than a maximum displacement, moving the shade to a different position by energizing the DC gear motor to rotate the shade tube. Another method includes receiving a command from a remote control, and moving the shade to a position associated with the command by energizing the DC gear motor to rotate the shade tube.

Assembly To Lock A Storm Curtain Adjacent To An Opening In A Building

US Patent:
20070261801, Nov 15, 2007
Filed:
May 1, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/799298
Inventors:
Willis Mullet - Gulf Breeze FL, US
Richard Hand - Pace FL, US
Derek Paquette - Daphne AL, US
Darrin Brunk - Pensacola FL, US
Ben Chen - Cantonment FL, US
Fred Higgins - Pensacola FL, US
International Classification:
A47G 5/02
US Classification:
160290100
Abstract:
An apparatus for covering an opening in a structure may include spaced rails positioned at opposed sides of the opening. Each rail includes a channel and a is curtain movable along the rails to cover and uncover the opening. A locking bar is attached to one end of the curtain. The locking bar has opposed end portions received in the channels, and a locking channel is positioned close to the ends of each rail to receive the bar. The locking channel is disposed at an angle relative to the channel and the bar is selectively received in the locking channel to lock the curtain in a position covering the opening. In some embodiments the locking bar includes a length that spans the distance between the side rails and is selectively locked in the sill along at least thirty percent of the length.

A roll () is positioned in the header () and carries a fabric curtain () which has one end attached to the roll (). A bar () is attached to the other end of the fabric curtain (). A track () is formed on each side rail (), and the edges of the fabric curtain () are normally received in the tracks (). One of the walls () which forms the track () terminates at an upper edge () which is spaced from the header () so that if an edge of the fabric curtain () is displaced from the track (), the displaced edge will be allowed to be received in the track () as the fabric curtain () is being received on the roll ().

System For Leveling A Protective Window Covering

US Patent:
20090127369, May 21, 2009
Filed:
Nov 20, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/986072
Inventors:
Willis J. Mullet - Gulf Breeze FL, US
Richard S. Hand - Pace FL, US
Darrin W. Brunk - Pensacola FL, US
International Classification:
E06B 9/56
B65H 75/34
US Classification:
242379, 160 231, 242398
Abstract:
A system is provided to adjust the orientation of the axis of a roll which carries a fabric storm curtain used to protect an opening in a structure. The system includes a bracket positioned at each end of the roll and a plate which is received in a recess in each bracket. The plate includes a hub which carries the roll and which has an axis aligned with the axis of rotation of the roll. The hub is positioned off center of the plate so that dependent on the orientation of plate relative to the recess, different orientations of the axis of the roll are provided.

Storm Curtain Side Retention System

US Patent:
20090229767, Sep 17, 2009
Filed:
Mar 12, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/075551
Inventors:
Willis J. Mullet - Gulf Breeze FL, US
Richard S. Hand - Pace FL, US
Darrin W. Brunk - Pensacola FL, US
International Classification:
E06B 9/58
E06B 9/00
US Classification:
160 26, 160 38
Abstract:
A curtain assembly () to cover and protect an opening in a structure, such as a window (), includes side rails () which extend between a header () and a sill (). A roller () is positioned in the header () and carries a fabric curtain (). Tabs () extend outwardly from the lateral edges () of the curtain (), and at least some of the tabs () carry at least one retention member ( or ). Tabs () and the retention members ( or ) are received in a compartment () in the side rails (). Flap walls () form a portion of the compartments () and are spaced from each other. The curtain () can extend through the space () but the retention members ( or ) cannot. As a result, upon impact against the curtain, the retention members ( or ) engage the flap walls () which engage the curtain () and the curtain () is maintained in the side rails (). Because the tabs () extend outwardly beyond the lateral edges of the roller (), no additional space is taken up by the retention members ( or ) when the curtain () is rolled up on the roller ().
