Abstract:
An encoding and error correction system and method employs an adaptive multi-rate (AMR) codec by stripping header data from a plurality of legacy system frames having header and traffic channel (TCH) data blocks. Speech data is then encoded using the AMR to create bits for a data block substantially the same as contained in the plurality of frames. The stripped header data is encoded as a long frame header using a fixed convolution coder. The speech data is then convolutionally encoded and the long frame header and encoded speech data are combined as a long frame. The long frame is then deconstructed into a plurality of equal segments and the segments are transmitted as TCH data in the legacy system frame format.

Abstract:
A communications system includes a carrier recovery module that determines a carrier frequency offset of an input signal. A rotator module rotates the input signal to minimize the carrier frequency offset and generates a compensated signal. A correlator module correlates the compensated signal with a unique word to obtain a timing correction. An equalizer module equalizes the compensated signal based on the timing correction and generates an equalized signal. The carrier recovery module includes a burst detector module that detects a burst in response to a preamble of the input signal and an average detector to set a gain of a programmable gain amplifier (PGA). The average detector is disabled during burst search by the burst detector module and enabled at a beginning of each burst, outputs burst data to a digital signal processor when the average detector is enabled, and does not output the burst data to the digital signal processor when the average detector is disabled.

A system includes a header stripper configured to strip header data from a plurality of legacy system frames. Each of the plurality of legacy system frames (i) being in accordance with a legacy system frame format and (ii) including a header block and a traffic channel block. A first encoder is configured to encode speech data for a plurality of slots of the traffic channel blocks. A second encoder is configured to encode the stripped header data as a frame header. A CORDIC angle calculator for a baseband IC receiver incorporates a CORDIC algorithm calculating processor with an input scaling means receiving input data, scaling the input data and providing it to the CORDIC processor. Abstract:
A delay buffer includes a first shift register receiving input data and having a shift signal input port. The first shift register right shifts the input data responsive to a shift signal on the shift signal input port. The shift signal is determined based on an effective bit width of the input data. A first delay line receives the shifted data from the first shift register while a second delay line of equal length to the first delay line receives the shift signal. A second shift register receives the output from the first delay line and receives the output of the second delay line on a shift signal input port. The second shift register then left shifts the data contained therein according to the shift signal.

A personal protective device (PPE) comprising a face cover assembly and a bodysuit configured to be worn by a human user. The device protects users against airborne aerosol particles containing viruses or other infectious agents while enabling improved flexibility relative to prior art designs. The device includes a helmet-like” rotating face cover assembly that fits over the user's head and attaches to a collar on the biohazard bodysuit. This rotating face cover assembly has a plurality of different mask sides, each with differing geometries or other properties. The device enables a user to can rotate the cover and select a given mask side that best meets that user's needs. The different mask sides can accommodate different facial geometries, eyewear types, and use cases.

Abstract:
Computer-processor controlled energy harvester system optimized for use on mobile platforms. The system uses a plurality of oscillating weight type energy collectors, each configured to store the energy from changes in the system's ambient acceleration as stored mechanical energy. The energy collectors are configured to move between a first position where the energy collector stores energy, to a second position where the energy collectors release stored energy to a geared electrical generator shaft, thus producing electrical energy, often stored in a battery. A plurality of processor controlled electronic actuators control when each energy collector stores and releases energy. The processor can use battery charge sensors, and suitable software and firmware to optimize system function. To facilitate use on mobile platforms, the processor also uses input from a 3-axis accelerometer to dynamically reconfigure the energy collectors according to the present major directions of ambient acceleration.
