The National Miss Indian Nations Candidate
Miss Indian Nations
I was one of four candidates to enter The National Miss Indian Nations Pageant. It was created to promote the goodwill of a Cross-cultural Education Program. The primary function of Miss Indian Nations is to serve as an Ambassador for all Indian Nations as well as to serve as an official representative of United Tribes Technical College. The Pageant is a nonprofit organization sponsored by United Tribes Technical College.
Miss Indian Nations Miss Talent
Miss Indian Nations
In running for Miss Indian Nations I had to prepare a talent to showcase for a panel on selected judges. I performed the Eastern Blanket dance; a dance native to the northeastern algonqiun women. Afterwords I gave a perpared speech to the people in the audience on the struggles and hardships we as northeastern native americans are continuing to endure.
Miss Indian Nations Children's Choice
Miss Indian Nations
The United Tribes Technical College held a Fun Day for all the elementary school in the county. Many dignitaries from the state of North Dakota both Native American and non-native came to participate in the fun day. As a Miss Indian Nations Candidate I was given 24 hours to prepare something fun to do with over 500 children. I choreographed a fun line dance to teach all 500 children. After teaching the dance and exciting the children, I also taught them a few fun words in the Shinnecock language. All 500 children had to vote on which candidate they enjoyed and would like to win the Miss Indian Nations Pageant.
