Abstract:
The lubricating oil of the present invention has a viscosity suitable for use in a diesel engine and includes at least one functionalized olefin polymer, and at least one zinc dialkyl dithiophosphate (ZDDP). The ZDDP is made from a mixture of primary alcohols or a mixture of primary and secondary alcohols, wherein the lubricant has a high boundary film value greater than or equal to 15, and preferably greater than 60, as measured by using a High Frequency Reciprocating Rig (HFRR).

Abstract:
A novel highly grafted, multi-functional olefin copolymer is provided comprising an additive reaction product of a method comprising reacting acylating agent with an olefin copolymer having a number average molecular weight greater than about 1,000 in the presence of a free radical initiator and essentially free of hydrocarbon solvent in an extruder to provide an olefin copolymer intermediate comprising an acylated olefin copolymer having a degree of grafting (DOG) of at least 0. 5 wt. %, which copolymer intermediate's molecular weight is reduced, vacuum stripped of unreacted components, pelletized, dissolved in a neutral oil (preferably with inert gas sparging), and further reacted with a polyamine to provide a grafted multi-functional olefin copolymer viscosity modifier, and lubricating oil concentrates and compositions containing the same and uses thereof.

A lubricating oil composition and methods of operating an internal combustion engine to provide improved engine operation. Abstract:
A lubricated surface and method for lubricating moving parts. The lubricated surface includes a thin film coating of a lubricant composition containing a base oil of lubricating viscosity and from about 9.5 to about 25 percent by weight of an additive comprising a nitrogen containing olefin copolymer derived from an olefin copolymer having grafted thereon from about 0.15 to about 1.0 carboxylic groups per 1000 number average molecular weight units of the copolymer. The copolymer has a number average molecular weight ranging from about 10,000 to about 100,000. The amount of additive in the lubricant composition is based on a total weight of the lubricant composition.
