Abstract:
A method () and system () of sensing the position of an audio accessory () having at least a microphone () can include a sensor ( and/or ) for detecting one among a plurality of positions of the audio accessory and a processor () programmed to equalize an audio input from the microphone based on which one among the plurality of positions was detected. The sensor can be a thermal sensor, an optical sensor, or a proximity sensor. The audio accessory can be a remote speaker/microphone accessory. Among the plurality of positions that can be detected can include a Mouth Reference Point (MRP) or a Shoulder position. The processor can be further programmed to automatically equalize () a microphone input audio based on one of the plurality of positions detected. The system can also be programmed to automatically equalize () when a push-to-talk activation occurs at the audio accessory.

Abstract:
Systems and methods for validating the operation of a transducer and an audio signal path to the transducer. An example method includes switching, with an audio switch, the audio signal path between an audio power amplifier and an analog-to-digital converter. The method includes routing an audio signal received from the transducer to the analog-to-digital converter when the audio power amplifier is not enabled. The method includes, upon receiving a button signal, processing, with an electronic processor, a digital version of the audio signal received from the analog-to-digital converter to generate a sample. The method includes comparing the sample to a reference audio sample. The method includes generating an alert when the sample does not match the reference audio sample.

Abstract:
Improved connectivity between a portable communication device and an accessory is provided through the configuration of a USB type interface. Independent control of a mission-critical subsystem and auxiliary subsystems allow for mission-critical audio and push-to-talk (PTT) to be maintained even in the event of a fault condition within the system. The configurability aspect of the interface allows for additional mission-critical input features to be configured into independent mission-critical subsystems.
