Fitting To Connect A Polyvinyl Chloride Pipe And A Polyethylene Pipe

View page
US Patent:
20100066081, Mar 18, 2010
Filed:
Sep 18, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/233310
Inventors:
Charles Charlson - Rogers MN, US
Gregory Charlson - Saint Anthony MN, US
Assignee:
POLY-CAM, INC. - Anoka MN
International Classification:
F16L 25/00
F16L 15/08
US Classification:
285386, 2952501
Abstract:
This disclosure is directed to a pipe fitting for joining a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe to a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe. The fitting has a HDPE body. A ring-shaped PVC insert is positioned within an inner surface of the body at one opening of the body. An inner surface of the PVC insert is threaded so that a PVC pipe that has a threaded outer surface can be screwed into the PVC insert. A compression ring is installed over the outer surface of a portion of the body that surrounds the PVC insert. Prior to installation, the inner diameter of the compression ring is smaller than the outer diameter of the portion of the body that surrounds the PVC insert. For this reason, when the compression ring is installed, the compression ring compresses the portion of the body that surrounds the PVC insert, holding the PVC insert within the body.

US Patent:
20130092275, Apr 18, 2013
Filed:
Oct 12, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/650685
Inventors:
Charles Charlson - Rogers MN, US
Gregory Charlson - Anoka MN, US
International Classification:
F16L 55/10
US Classification:
138 89
Abstract:
An end cap for a containment pipe surrounding a pipe used to transfer fluid include a first fitting including a coupling body configured to be coupled to the pipe, and a reducer having first and second ends, a diameter of the first end of the reducer being less than a diameter of the second end of the reducer, and the first end of the reducer being coupled to the coupling body, and a second fitting including a cap having an open end defining an aperture, and a main body coupled to a second end of the cap, the main body being configured to be coupled to the containment pipe. The reducer is inserted into the aperture of the open end of the cap, and the cap is coupled to the reducer to form the end cap.
