Energy Collector And Transfer Apparatus

View page
US Patent:
43357067, Jun 22, 1982
Filed:
Sep 30, 1980
Appl. No.:
6/192485
Inventors:
Frank J. Passarelli - Los Angeles CA
George A. Matsukas - Santa Ynez CA
Charles P. Caspary - Chatsworth CA
International Classification:
F24J 302
US Classification:
126435
Abstract:
An energy collector and transferring apparatus which in its first embodiment utilizes three connected closed loop conduit systems. The first closed loop conduit system is to include an energy collector which is to collect not only solar energy but ambient energy. The energy is absorbed within a black liquid flowing through the first conduit system. The first conduit system includes a first energy exchanger wherein the absorbed energy is transferred from black liquid to a second energy absorbing medium. The second energy absorbing medium is cycled within a second closed loop conduit system. A compressor is included within the second closed loop conduit system to condense this medium from a gaseous state to a higher density fluid, thereby substantially raising the temperature. The energy from the second energy absorbing medium is then to be absorbed through an energy exchanger to a third energy absorbing medium of a third closed loop conduit system. In a second embodiment of the present invention, the first and third closed loop conduit systems are combined into a single closed loop conduit system with the second closed loop conduit system functioning to additively supply energy to the single closed loop conduit system.

Distilling Apparatus

US Patent:
47102721, Dec 1, 1987
Filed:
Mar 20, 1986
Appl. No.:
6/841803
Inventors:
Frank J. Passarelli - Los Angeles CA
George A. Matsukas - Santa Ynez CA
Charles P. Caspary - Chatsworth CA
International Classification:
B01D 304
B01D 310
US Classification:
202205
Abstract:
An apparatus for distilling a source liquid which utilizes a substantially vertical liquid column. The liquid column is contained by a tubular container closed at the top and open at the bottom. The open bottom of the tubular container is submerged within a source liquid reservoir. The height of the tubular container is greater than the maximum obtainable height for the given density of the portion of source liquid contained within the column. A vacuum is located within the tubular container above the surface of the portion of source liquid contained in the column. In the area of the vacuum, there is located a centrifugal compressor which is to function to move vapor from the vacuum section of the tubular container and compress such along with the transfer of heat to the point that the vapor becomes liquid. This now product liquid is to be removed from the apparatus.
