Graphical User Interface For Interactive Construction Of Typical Cross-Section Frameworks

View page
US Patent:
7599820, Oct 6, 2009
Filed:
Jun 23, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/165319
Inventors:
Thomas M. Inzinga - Henniker NH, US
Lisa E. Fox - Sandown NH, US
Kumud D. Valdya - Penacook NH, US
Nagesh Narayanaswamy - Manchester NH, US
Chakravarthy Gavini - Amherst NH, US
Assignee:
Autodesk, Inc. - San Rafael CA
International Classification:
G06F 17/50
US Classification:
703 1, 703 2, 703 6, 700 98, 345419
Abstract:
Embodiments of the invention provide a method, apparatus and article of manufacture for modeling a variety of three dimensional structures that may be represented as a longitudinal series of repeating cross-sections. In one embodiment, users construct each cross section from a collection of subassembly components selected from a catalog of subassemblies. Each subassembly is represented as a data component that stores modifiable parameters, and a logic component that generates a parameter-specific geometry of the subassembly for use in a cross-section of the model. A graphical user interface allows a user to select a subassembly, to modify the parameters for the subassembly, and to integrate the subassembly element into the computer model.

US Patent:
20070080961, Apr 12, 2007
Filed:
Oct 12, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/248735
Inventors:
Thomas Inzinga - Henniker NH, US
Lisa Fox - Sandown NH, US
Kumud Vaidya - Penacook NH, US
Bradford Ek - Concord NH, US
Nagesh Narayanaswamy - Manchester NH, US
Chakravarthy Gavini - Amherst NH, US
International Classification:
G06T 15/00
US Classification:
345419000
Abstract:
Embodiments of the invention provide a method for creating a complete 3D model of complex infrastructure configurations, such as divided highways, roadway intersections, etc. Current CAD applications have been limited to creating 3D models based on the geometry of a single alignment. In one embodiment, each baseline for a 3D model using four data inputs: a topographical terrain model, an alignment specifying the longitudinal 2D geometry for the structure being modeled, a profile specifying the elevations of the baseline along the horizontal alignment, and the geometry for cross-sectional assemblies along the horizontal and vertical alignments.

Generating Cross Section For Roadway Infrastructure Models

US Patent:
20130090893, Apr 11, 2013
Filed:
Oct 7, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/269335
Inventors:
Anandaraja Devan - Belmont MA, US
Nicholas James Zeeben - Goffstown NH, US
Chakravarthy Gavini - Amherst NH, US
John Murchie Lewis - Acton MA, US
Assignee:
AUTODESK, INC. - San Rafael CA
International Classification:
G06F 17/50
US Classification:
703 1
Abstract:
A method, system, apparatus, article of manufacture, and computer-program product provides the ability to generate a cross section for a roadway infrastructure model. A cutting plane line is drawn on the roadway infrastructure model at an arbitrary location. Portions of the roadway infrastructure model that intersect the cutting plane line are determined. Solids are created at the intersections. A cross section is formed by slicing the one or more solids based on the cutting plane line. The cross section is displayed.
