Image Enhancement Using Modulation Strength Map And Modulation Kernel

View page
US Patent:
20130301912, Nov 14, 2013
Filed:
May 9, 2013
Appl. No.:
13/891007
Inventors:
Bartlett W. Mel - Manhattan Beach CA, US
Chaithanya A. Ramachandra - Los Angeles CA, US
Assignee:
UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA - Los Angeles CA
International Classification:
G06T 5/00
US Classification:
382162, 382266
Abstract:
An image enhancement system may generate a net signed fractional modulation value at each location in an image using a modulation strength map (MSM) in combination with a modulation kernel F(θ). The system may scale an image value at each location using the net signed fractional modulation value at each location. Application of the algorithm may not result in systematic clipping of peri-edge locations to maximum or minimum brightness values, or any other form of systematic homogenization of values at peri-edge locations.

US Patent:
20130301910, Nov 14, 2013
Filed:
May 14, 2013
Appl. No.:
13/894276
Inventors:
Bartlett W. Mel - Manhattan Beach CA, US
Chaithanya A. Ramachandra - Los Angeles CA, US
Assignee:
UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA - Los Angeles CA
International Classification:
G06T 7/00
US Classification:
382159
Abstract:
A computer system may elicit from a human observer ground truth data useful in automatically detecting one or more features in images. The elicitation may include presenting an image to a human observer that has a visual indicator in an image, the visual indicator indicating having a location and orientation with respect to the image; asking the human observer to judge whether a particular image feature is present in the image at the location and orientation indicated by the visual indicator; receiving input from the human observer indicative of whether the particular image feature is present at the location and orientation indicated by the visual indicator; storing the input received from the human observer as part of the human-labeled ground truth data; and repeating the process described above one or more times in connection with a visual indicator that has a different location or orientation with respect to the image or that uses a different image. The stored human-labeled ground truth data may have a content that is useful in automatically detecting one or more features in other images.

US Patent:
20210353141, Nov 18, 2021
Filed:
May 26, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/331588
Inventors:
- Woodland Hills CA, US
Blake G. Crowther - Preston ID, US
Chaithanya Amai Ramachandra - West Hills CA, US
John Rice Rogers - Monrovia CA, US
Gregory John Alexander Russell - Woodland Hills CA, US
Kaushal Mohanlal Solanki - West Hills CA, US
International Classification:
A61B 3/12
A61B 3/15
A61B 3/00
Abstract:
Various embodiments for eye imaging, screening, diagnosis, and monitoring are provided. Some embodiments comprise systems for retinal imaging capable of capturing multiple high resolution images using multiple quick succession flashes. The images can be combined to provide for a complete image of the retina of a target FOV without corneal reflections. In some embodiments, a system for retinal imaging can utilize an optical design pupil layout that allocates a large area for the path of imaging rays on the eye pupil by using a narrow buffer area. In other embodiments, a system for retinal imaging can comprise a main device, including an imaging and sensing device, and a robotic system, including an eye tracker and/or sensors, wherein the robotic system is capable of automatically aligning the main device and selecting an optimal imaging mode by detecting a pupil size of an eye and is combined with an AI analysis tool.
