Method And Apparatus For Movable Element Position Detection In An Electrically Commutated Machine

View page
US Patent:
7429841, Sep 30, 2008
Filed:
Sep 30, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/956404
Inventors:
Haroon I. Yunus - New Hartford CT, US
Russel H. Marvin - Goshen CT, US
Bumsuk Won - Avon CT, US
Assignee:
The Berquist Torrington Company - Chanhassen MN
International Classification:
H02P 6/00
US Classification:
31840001, 31840004, 31840014, 31840035, 318606, 318599
Abstract:
A method and circuit for detecting the position of the movable element of an electrically commutated machine. The method and apparatus allow detection of the back electromagnetic force (BEMF) waveform with all legs of the machine energized by mathematically removing the applied voltage from the measured voltage across the phases.

Method For Making Rotor For Permanent Magnet Electric Machine

View page
US Patent:
20050071985, Apr 7, 2005
Filed:
May 26, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/854447
Inventors:
Bumsuk Won - Avon CT, US
Russel Marvin - Goshen CT, US
Gary Peresada - Torrington CT, US
International Classification:
H02K007/09
US Classification:
029598000, 029596000
Abstract:
A method for making a rotor for a permanent magnet electric motor comprising the steps of providing an annular permanent magnet and an annular back-up member. Affixing the magnet to the inner surface of the back-up member in an un-magnetized condition and overmolding both in an injection molding process while controlling the flow of the molten plastic so as to cause the plastic to engage the opposite sides of the magnet at substantially the same time resulting in a knit line intermediate the magnet sides on the inner surface of the magnet. Magnetizing the magnet.

US Classification:
310216000, 31006700R, 310254000, 310058000
Abstract:
A permanent magnet motor having a stator back iron in the form of a “slinky” and a plurality of winding sections in circumaxially spaced relationship about the back rion. Each winding section comprises a conductor wound helically about the back iron with each coil adjacent the next and ending in a radial plane. A permanent magnet motor surrounds the stator.
