Potting Table

View page
US Patent:
20060032117, Feb 16, 2006
Filed:
Jul 26, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/900036
Inventors:
Hope Lehman - Evergreen CO, US
David Lehman - Evergreen CO, US
Bruce Westermo - San Diego CA, US
Timothy Martin - Lakewood CO, US
International Classification:
A47G 7/00
US Classification:
047039000
Abstract:
An apparatus for use in potting plants includes a tray upon which potting materials may be placed. The tray has a generally planar base portion with a peripheral edge. A support mechanism is secured relative to the upper surface of the tray and is rotatable about a rotation axis. A plate structure sized to support a plant receptacle is supported on the support mechanism for common rotation therewith. In one form of the invention, a rim extends upwardly from an upper surface around a majority of the edge so that a gap exists in the rim. In another form of the invention, the plate structure has a retaining element positioned to engage the support mechanism to resist radial displacement during rotation. The tray may include a handle. The rotational axis may be offset from the center of the tray to provide a work area for placing the potting materials.

Strain Monitoring Apparatus And Methods For Use In Mechanical Structures Subjected To Stress

View page
US Patent:
50866516, Feb 11, 1992
Filed:
Sep 19, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/584734
Inventors:
Bruce Westermo - San Diego CA
Larry D. Thompson - El Cajon CA
International Classification:
G01B 716
US Classification:
73763
Abstract:
Devices and methodology are provided for measuring mechanical strain in a structural member. The devices and methodology utilize a material which undergoes a change in phase when strained so that measurement of the phase change indicates strain. Preferably the phase change material is a transformation induced plasticity steel alloy. The elements may be configured as gauges secured to a structural member, but also the elements may perform as part of the structure. A plurality of elements may be organized into a monitoring system, either passive or active, for a complex structure.

Passive Peak Deflection Sensor

View page
US Patent:
59328100, Aug 3, 1999
Filed:
Feb 25, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/030315
Inventors:
Bruce Westermo - San Diego CA
Duane Crum - San Diego CA
William Law - San Diego CA
Larry D. Thompson - Descanso CA
Robert Trombi - San Diego CA
Raemon M. Polk - Atlanta GA
Assignee:
Strain Monitor Systems, Inc. - Norcross GA
International Classification:
G01G 1912
US Classification:
73768
Abstract:
A passive deflection gauge to detect peak deflection in a structural material or system since a given time is disclosed. The gauge includes any type of mechanical deflection sensor using a moveable or extensible core for measuring deflection. A stop moves the core only if a strain greater than the previously occurring maximum strain is present in the structural material or system. Any other movement of the stop will not move the core. Furthermore, a friction member may be incorporated to prevent spurious movement of the core.

Elevated Robotic Assistive Device System And Method

View page
US Patent:
20170344028, Nov 30, 2017
Filed:
Apr 2, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/477103
Inventors:
Bruce Donald Westermo - San Diego CA, US
International Classification:
G05D 1/12
B25J 5/02
H04L 29/08
Abstract:
An elevated system for providing support and control of a network of mobile robotic apparatus contains a system of tracks attached to an elevated structure with means to connect one or more adjacent tracks for the mobile robotic apparatus to traverse the track system. The mobile robotic apparatus contains one or more mobile robotic units with means to actuate and process sensor input and provide multimedia and communication signal monitoring and tracking capabilities. A remote controller not attached to the track system nor robotic apparatus provides command and control to the robotic units, and provides electronic storage of data generated by the robotic units and/or remote controller.
