US Patent:
20120214400, Aug 23, 2012
Filed:
Feb 22, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/032413
Inventors:
John A. Hanig - Sheffield IA, US
Steven E. Sukup - Clear Lake IA, US
Eugene G. Sukup - Hampton IA, US
Charles E. Sukup - Dougherty IA, US
Bradley A. Poppen - Sheffield IA, US
Assignee:
SUKUP MANUFACTURING COMPANY - Sheffield IA
International Classification:
F24F 7/02
US Classification:
454365
Abstract:
A roof vent assembly wherein the grain bin has a corrugated cylindrical wall and a roof structure having a plurality of triangular roof panels. A vent assembly is connected to the roof. The vent assembly has a base. The base has a back wall, two side walls and a front wall which extend upwardly from the flange. The back wall and sidewalls are generally straight whereas the front wall extends outwardly to a point, peak or crest. When connected to the grain bin roof, the peak of the vent assembly is positioned to point upwardly. This peak prevents the build up of moisture and debris thereby extending the life of the grain bin roof assembly.

US Patent:
20210392820, Dec 23, 2021
Filed:
Jun 14, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/346373
Inventors:
- Sheffield IA, US
Bradley Allan Poppen - Sheffield IA, US
Andrew Joseph Sauerbrei - Clear Lake IA, US
International Classification:
A01F 25/22
Abstract:
A roof vent system for a grain storage device is disclosed. A roof vent including a lid is operatively connected to the roof panel adjacent the opening. The lid is configured to move between an open position and a closed position. A bias member configured to apply an upward bias force to the lid to automatically move the lid to the open position. A control lever that is movable between an upper position and a lower position. The control lever is operably connected to the lid by a pull. When control lever is moved to the lower position with a force greater than the bias force of the bias member, the lid is moved to the closed position. A sealing member attached to the lid is configured to provide a seal between the lid and the roof panel when the lid is moved to the closed position.

Safety Grain Bin Door Latch System

US Patent:
20210371193, Dec 2, 2021
Filed:
Aug 2, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/391606
Inventors:
- Sheffield IA, US
Andrew Joseph Sauerbrei - Clear Lake IA, US
Bradley Allan Poppen - Sheffield IA, US
David Jay Brownmiller - Mason City IA, US
John Arthur Hanig - Sheffield IA, US
Steve Sukup - Sheffield IA, US
International Classification:
B65D 90/00
A01F 25/16
B65D 88/08
B65D 90/22
Abstract:
A safety door latch system is presented for a grain bin having a door frame. An inner door is connected to the door frame that is configured to move between an open position and a closed position. An outer door is connected to the door frame and is configured to move between an open position and a closed position. A safety mechanism is connected to the door frame and is configured to move between an open position and a closed position. When the inner door frame is moved to a closed position, a portion of the inner door engages the safety mechanism thereby causing the safety mechanism to move to the closed position. When the safety mechanism is in the closed position, the outer door may be latched to the safety mechanism. When the safety mechanism is in the open position, the outer door cannot latch to the safety mechanism.

Filed:
Aug 22, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/548440
Inventors:
Bradley Allan Poppen - Sheffield IA, US
John Arthur Hanig - Sheffield IA, US
International Classification:
E04H 7/22

F16B 43/00
B65D 90/02
Abstract:
A system of connecting a stiffener to the sidewall of a grain bin using a stud bolt having a first threaded end, a second threaded end and a feature positioned between the first end and a second end. A sealing member is positioned over the first end of the stud bolt, which in one case is a metallic washer with an affixed compressible sealing member. The first end of the stud bolt is inserted into a hole in the sidewall and an inner nut is placed over the first end inside the sidewall. As the inner nut is tightened, the feature is pulled toward the exterior surface of the grain bin thereby causing the sealing member to form a seal with the exterior surface of the grain bin. The second end of the stud bolt is inserted into a hole in the stiffener which is tightened onto the stud bolt.
