Born in Houston, grew up in Deer Park, Texas, studied at Austin College in Sherman, Texas, took a little military training, taught at St. Thomas High School in Houston where I taught history, English and was the speech and debate coach. Went to South Texas College of Law in Houston, where I was on law review. Became interested in appellate law in law school, and started out as a lawyer primarily doing criminal defense. I'm interested in contempt, "Carrying a Weapon" law, law and economics, legal writing and advocacy. Philosophically, I'm interested in Wittgenstein, Kant, epistemology- particularly issues relating to probability, statistics, game theory, economics and law (which is not the same thing as "law and economics").
