US Patent:
59754893, Nov 2, 1999
Filed:
Apr 12, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/631757
Inventors:
C. Peter deCler - St. Paul MN
David W. Meyer - Jordan MN
Blaine C. Sturm - Anoka MN
Assignee:
Colder Products Company - St. Paul MN
International Classification:
F16L 3728
US Classification:
2511491
Abstract:
A valve for dispensing fluid to and from a container. The valve includes a housing defining a flow passage extending longitudinally therethrough. A poppet member is telescopically mounted in the flow passage of the housing and is telescopically movable between an open position and a closed position. The poppet member has a proximal end portion that includes a second retaining structure that cooperates with a first retaining structure of the housing to provide a snap fit connection for retaining the poppet member in the housing. The snap fit connection allows the poppet member to be mounted in the housing by inserting the poppet member through a front end of the housing member.

US Patent:
59114037, Jun 15, 1999
Filed:
Feb 28, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/807247
Inventors:
C. Peter deCler - St. Paul MN
David W. Meyer - Jordon MN
Blaine C. Sturm - Anoka MN
Assignee:
Colder Products Company - St. Paul MN
International Classification:
F16L 3728
US Classification:
2511496
Abstract:
The present invention relates generally to a device for controlling fluid flow. The device includes a housing having a front end and a back end. The housing defines a flow passageway extending longitudinally between the front and back ends. A first retaining structure is connected to the housing and positioned within the flow passageway. The device also includes a valve mechanism for opening and closing the flow passageway of the housing. The valve mechanism includes a poppet member mounted within the flow passageway. The poppet member includes a first end opposite from a second end. The first end includes a second retaining structure that cooperates with the first retaining structure of the housing to provide a snap fit connection for retaining the poppet member within the housing.

Self-Tightening Soft Tubing Fitting And Method Of Use

US Patent:
49039954, Feb 27, 1990
Filed:
Sep 30, 1988
Appl. No.:
7/252254
Inventors:
Brian J. Blenkush - Maple Grove MN
Blaine C. Sturm - Anoka MN
Assignee:
Colder Products Company - St. Paul MN
International Classification:
F16L 3500
US Classification:
285 38
Abstract:
An improved self-tightening fitting and fitting connector for use with soft tubing includes a stem having a flange at one end over which a piece of soft tubing may be pulled, and a sleeve which is slidable over the stem and has an inwardly extending lip with a contact surface thereon. A releasable ratchet mechanism prevents movement of the sleeve away from the flange, so that tubing can be secured tightly between the contact surface of the sleeve and the flange. When tension is applied to the tubing, the lip portion catches on the tubing, urging the contact surface tighter against the flange, preventing the tubing from creeping through the clamping couple formed by the sleeve and flange. When it is desired to disconnect the tubing, the ratchet mechanism can be released. The method of use is also disclosed.
