The present invention refers to a process for the production of controlled-release aqueous compositions comprising an active ingredient releasably contained within polymeric particles. The polymeric particles are obtainable by ring-opening metathesis polymerisation of a monomer of the general formula (I)wherein Rand Rhave the same meaning as given in the specification, or a mixture thereof, in an aqueous phase in the presence of a ruthenium catalyst, an emulsifier, and an active ingredient.
