Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy With Automatic Phase And B0 Correction Using Interleaved Water Reference Scan

View page
US Patent:
20130320979, Dec 5, 2013
Filed:
Feb 10, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/985066
Inventors:
Baolian Yang - Highland Heights OH, US
Assignee:
KONINKLIJKE PHILIPS N.V. - EINDHOVEN
International Classification:
G01R 33/44
US Classification:
324311, 324318
Abstract:
A magnetic resonance (MR) sequence (14) is performed, including: applying a preparatory MR sub-sequence (S prep) providing water signal suppression; performing a magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) sub-sequence (S MRS) after applying the preparatory MR sub-sequence to acquire H MRS data with water signal suppression; and performing an MR reference sub-sequence (S Ref) to acquire MR reference data. The MR reference sub-sequence is performed after the MRS sub-sequence. Phase and B0 correction of the H MRS data with water signal suppression are performed using the MR reference data to generate corrected MRS data. The excitation pulse (g) of the MR reference sub-sequence has a flip angle of less than or equal to o, and more preferably has a flip angle of less than or equal to 3 o. In some embodiments the MR sequence has a total repetition time (TR) of 2000 msec or less.

Broad Bandwidth Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy At High Static (B0) Magnetic Field Using Polarization Transfer

US Patent:
20130314087, Nov 28, 2013
Filed:
Jan 10, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/984910
Inventors:
Baolian Yang - Highland Heights OH, US
David Leslie Foxall - Mentor OH, US
Assignee:
KONINKLIJKE PHILIPS N.V. - EINDHOVEN
International Classification:
G01R 33/32
US Classification:
324313
Abstract:
A magnetic resonance (MR) generating a static (BO) magnetic field of 5 Tesla or higher controller is configured to control an MR scanner to perform an MR sequence () including: performing an excitation/localization sub-sequence () on a subject disposed in the static (BO) magnetic field generated by the MR scanner to excite 1H polarization in a selected spatial region of the subject; performing 5 a polarization transfer sub-sequence () to transfer localized 1H polarization generated by the excitation/localization sub-sequence to a selected species of non-proton nuclei; and performing a magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) readout sub-sequence () to acquire MRS data for the selected species of non-proton nuclei in the selected spatial region of the subject. The polarization transfer sub-sequence includes a pair of phase distortion canceling trapezoidal 180 refocusing pulses () operating on the selected species of non-proton nuclei.

US Patent:
20150253402, Sep 10, 2015
Filed:
Sep 9, 2013
Appl. No.:
14/429126
Inventors:
- EINDHOVEN, NL
Baolian Yang - Highland Heights OH, US
Assignee:
KONINKLIJKE PHILIPS N.V. - EINDHOVEN
International Classification:
G01R 33/465
A61B 5/00
A61B 5/055
Abstract:
A magnetic resonance (MR) system for detecting concentrations of one or more metabolites in a volume of interest (VOI), the system including at least one controller which: may apply to the VOI a multiple quantum filter (MQF) Point Resolved Spetroscopy (PRESS) sequence comprising first and second 90 RF pulses, a third 90 RF pulse, first and second 180 adiabatic pulses, and a composite dual-band delay alternating with nutation for tailored excitation (DANTE) pulse train having a plurality of N block pulses (N being an integer), the DANTE pulse train situated in time between the first and second 90 RF pulses, the first and second 180 adiabatic pulses situated in time after third 90 RF pulse; detect MR Free Induced Decay (FID) signal emitted from the VOI; and/or reconstruct the detected MR FID signal to obtain metabolite spectrum information.
