Abstract:
A method for mapping a city name to a geographic location is disclosed. The method comprises performing a search for the city name in at least one database said search including a search for synonyms and aliases associated with the city name; and if a result of the searching is negative then generating a tokenized form of the city name, and searching for the tokenized form of the city name in said at least one database.
