Abstract:
Exemplary embodiments provide a flexible, ambulatory and non-invasive ultrasound transducer device attachable to a user's body for transmitting ultrasound waves and receiving echoed ultrasound waves for performing non-invasive monitoring or imaging of the internal structures of the user's body. One or more ultrasound transducers are provided on a flexible, soft and thin backing layer that is adhered conformably and closely to a user's body so that the transducers are maintained in direct and intimate contact with the user's body. An exemplary device is used to monitor the heartbeat of a fetus inside a pregnant woman's womb.
